The Tenkaizu Budokai is a contest where, following a specified requirement, participants create stools and compete over their degree of completion as products.
The purposes of this contest are to pursue the possibilities of laser cutters as well as the diversity of processing through the creation process, and, by sharing those results, forming enjoyment and community in craftsmanship.
Following its start in 2012, this will be the 3rd Tenkaizu Budokai.
The best work will be chosen by the votes of attendees!
★The conditions for stool creation are as follows.【Stool creation conditions - 2014 version】 （１）Materials are limited to two 909mm x 1,818mm sheets of MDF that are 2.5mm thick, and materials printed from 3D printer. （２） Use of adhesives, screws, and materials other than those specified are prohibited. （３）Use of processing machines is limited to laser cutters, CNC routers, CNC milling machines, and 3D printers. （４）Painting and filing are not allowed. （５）The size and durability of the stool must be able to support an adult. （６）Must be able to duplicate results with similar machinery and materials. （７）Processing data must be made available to the public. ① Processing data must be uploaded to instructables (https://www.instructables.com/) by the end of the application process. ② Format of the data should be as follows: PDF for 2D data, IGES or DXF (or other editable format) for 3D data ③ Photographs of the production process and the finished stool are required. （８）Participants must be present at the venue on the day of the inspection.
※ Other・ Applicants must cover cost of materials, equipment usage fees, mailing costs, etc. ・ Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. ・ Please be aware that, as many people will be sitting on the stools during inspection, there is a chance that stools will break. ・ All applicants will be carrying their own stools, so please make sure the weight of the stool is light enough for you to carry.
