Now comes the tricky part, you have to plug the headphone jack end ALL THE WAY IN to your ipod.

The even trickier part is actually plugging in the RCA cables, just follow the diagram on picture 2,

The Red cable goes in the Yellow hole,
The white cable goes in the Red hole
The Yellow Cable goes in the White hole

Go to a car stereoshop,  they have a universal adapter ,for cars & CAN BE USED IN YOUR HOME , using the main connector on the bottom  ,   , it has  two wires for 12v+  connection  for Charging ,   has resistor built in .  if you are creative and  have a 12volt power adapter  ,you  dont have to worry about battery running Down !!

Do you know why you have to put the wires in as you instructed? I realise you "repurposed" the cable. Why isn't the standard color code right for this? I've been messing with connecting things for years. Before surround sound I hooked up a solid state stereo amp to the sereo out put of my VCR. I heard the engine bass sound back when Star Trek Next Geration first aired. The older TV's of the time tended to be too mid range or voice capible wthn the built in speakers.

the reason the wiring is screwy is because apple in their "infinite" wisdom decided to make you pay them for a special AV Cable when in fact this "special" AV cable is a regular one with different color jacks.

The reason the wire hook up is the way it is, is because Apple wants you to purchase their A/V cable. They purposely changed the out put cables to do this. Their are actually several posts on the internet that explain this trick and the reason why. Later, X86-1138
