1-ingredient Ice Cream

Step 2Blend to Perfection

Blend to Perfection
At first, the bananas resist the blending.

Don't panic.

Chop them up a few at a time, adding more bit by bit. They'll reach that nice chunky stage that you can use in smoothies. But you're not done yet! Keep that blender running for another 3-4 minutes, and watch in amazement as what you once saw as frozen bananas turn into a rich, creamy, silky blend.

AMAZED!!!

Hi! I tried  to add a little bit of cold water in the blender before blending the frozen bananas (To lower the viscosity) and it's a loooooooooot faster to turn the bananas into the creamy thing. Taste and consistency hadn't change.

Hope this will help!

Absolutely delicious! I found that it lost taste after i freezed it again. The oxidation process after it was blended made it loose flavor and that's too bad!
But it can be eaten perfectly as it is before freezing again.

You say "blender," but looks like you are using what is typically called a Food Processor. Would this work with a standard blender? (Tall unit with little blade cluster at the bottom)

I use a blender, and it works just fine for me. I chop them in small chunks before freezing them and add them little by little not to overheat the blender. You could add a little water at first, but only very little.

It's even easier if you run frozen bananas through a champion juicer.

My Jack Lalanne Juicer instructions said NOT to run bananas through it.

I add peaches. Canned peaches work the best. My grandfather used to make this on hot summer days.

I do a similar ice cream with frozen mango slices and skimmed milk 'ice cubes', adding honey or sweetener. It's a lot less fattening than most ice creams and is a really delicious dessert.

Hello Smoochmaroo!
Thanks for the recipe I'm eager to try it! Could you PLEASE answer the question about the blender/food processor...? I agree with that other poster in that your pic looks just like a food processor not a blender. Which do I use for best results???
Thanks.

I blended them without freezing first. They got creamy very quickly! I added a bit of milk and kept blending, it looks great. Im freezing it now, I think it will turn out great!

doesn't it turn brown and yucky very quickly ??

I like to do this with a couple of ice cubes and fresh bananas. You can add just a bit of honey to make it more interesting.

If I didn't try it, I wouldn't have believed it. It's absolutely incredible! Adding the cold water when starting helped, I think. I honestly cannot believe how creamy and great it is. Everyone needs to try this. Thank you for the recipe!
