The 1.5gpm are definitely recommended for the bathroom, you won't notice the difference. For the kitchen, the 1.5 gpm will be a little more annoying when filling stuff, but if you have people who like to rinse everything (especially before putting it in the dish washer), or wash with the water running, definitely worth it. The 0.5 gpm versions are for real conservation people... they really are a trickle.
