100 Ways to Reduce Your Impact

Step 66Cloth diapers

Use cloth diapers on your babies. These can be reused, and you don't have to continue throwing away those plastic diapers and spending your money on them.

Reusable Diapers are widely sold in super markets and on the internet.

Sorry, I do not own any diapers, so i could not take a picture of one.

Putting cloth diapers on your child is the most unsanitary thing that you could do.

I wore those as an infant. I rarely get sick, (less than once a year).Cloth diapers only became "Unsanitary" after a company had something to sell you.

well, my mom told me, in their times, diapers that are disposable can't be found on the stores, thus they're just using cloth diapers before this disposable diapers pop out our planet... thank you... and it's helping the environment.

We've done disposable, cloth, and the "Chinese Pavlov's Dog" method. By far the Chinese way (traditionally), is the best. If you feed your baby on a fairly regular routine, they pee and poop on schedule! Also, it's natural for them to go after waking up and after feeding. We lived in China for 6 years. We had a 3 month old (Lily), when we hired a Chinese maid. The first day the maid watched our baby, she asked for the times Lily went potty. My wife and I looked at each other like, "Uh...don't know." We told the maid to teach us, and she did! I haven't said it yet, but you hold the child with your hands under the backs of his thighs, and he's facing away from you. The baby is doing a "squat", which by the way is medically proven to be better for pooping. Of course, the "Chinese" method is better for the environment. But, to be honest, it's way better to do a quick little wipe, than cleaning a blowout! And it's usually a much quicker event. In reality, this means that you need to hold your child more and be more in-tune with his/her bodily functions. Also, there are times you could be squatting for a while.

i gotta say, while babies are loveable little poo makers, I still think cloth diapers are more eco friendly. You don't keep them in one cloth diaper all day. Obviously, you have to make at least 20 cloth diapers. Make sure to wash very regularly, line dry. Change the cloth diaper whenever they poo. Simple.

you can also use G-diapers
they have the convienience of disposable diapers but the environmental aspect of reusable.
you can actually compost the diapers that have only been pee-ed in!
