I like the simplicity of your projector. Can you please post the link from where you purchased your new high resolution (640 by 230) LCD? Apart from the numbers in the specifications of these LCD do you actually see a difference in performance? What i mean is your 640 by 230 better than your old 480 by 240 one? if so, what is the actual difference in the bench? Can you compare the projection size (without any pixelation) of 480 by 240 vs the projection size of 640 by 230 one? Thank you.

I do know that if I where to come real close to the screen maybe a 1/3 distance of a meter and look at the image I would find the pixels are more "together" on the 640 by 240 one compared to the 480 by 240.
But apart from that, It is hard to say from full view. Though I do see pixels regardless on either of the resolutions at "full view". If I ever come across a 1024 by 768 or maybe a 640 by 480 at 2.5 inch then I think there would be a better noticeable difference of quality, pixels would be a lot less noticeable at those resolutions.

I read that it will only work if your VGA port supports TV output function on your video card. I would go with either of them but if my VGA port does not support TV output function then I would go for the first one.

I too noted that once i posted here. The converter box is the better option for me.
One more thing. The ebay LCD is not 620 by 240. The seller was misrepresenting the facts. I asked the package manual and pointed out his/her fault before ordering. To the best of my knowledge the 640 by 480 resolution is only available at 3.5" size not in 2.5". If you know it is available at 2.5" let me know. Thanks for the support.

Well, I decided I would look for a 2.5 inch LCD at 640 X 480, I found one. I don't know if this can bring video in from a RCA video cable. But I think It might.

I suppose we should ask and check the package insert before buying such items. Because the specks what they mention are not true at lest in few products that come from China. Apart from the one you purchased from the ebay i also had similar experience. I got this one which is mentioned to have 480x234, but in reality it is just half of that. Have a look at the post by Wkter here. We have to be doubly careful before we purchase them. Also it may be worth to go for bigger panels (>2.5") which has higher resolution if we have to spend this much money for a 2.5" high resolution LCD.

Wow, the price is great. If something like that at 1.8 inch can exist surely a 640 x 480 or higher at 2.5 inch might be possible in future I'd think. Cool!

Not like complete building at this moment. I just got a old slide projector for $15. I will replace the slide compartment with this LCD and see how good it goes. This is my first step. My next build is going to be a high resolution projector using 7-9" LCD and high intensity lamp.

Very nice, best of luck with it. There was some other guy who did the slide projector thing your doing I think it worked well, I can't remember how to find the guy, but I do believe it worked, might have been at the Lumen labs forum.

Actually, I don't connect my PC to my projector. I just use my regular monitor for computer activity. But those links you provided I took a look at. Both those devices are capable to turn VGA signals to NTSC (for north and south american video signals, maybe other types of video signals as well for the first link you gave.)

one thing will improve it. Im using a 12V 100W in my projector. If you get aluminium foil and make a better reflector by rapping foil around your bulb. you can make it much brighter. Look at the pics they will explain what i mean better

Well the 50 watt worked fine and was watchable. The 100 watt was a lot better, not too bright. I wouldn't say the 100 watt is 50% better then the 50 watt. I would prefer the 100 watt any day.

Hi there again, I was watching your recent videos, and I noticed there is a lo of light getting out at the back of the projector, that will make the room brighter and more difficult to see the screen properly. Try to cover it with something and see the difference.

The price range that I have seen noway days is from 100 to 3000 dollars for video projectors, I usually think that the higher the price the better the quality, but I am yet to be proven about that. I can still find some expensive ones out there though.

But its the less expensive ones that kind of recently came out in the market. Used video projectors are O.k but if its difficult to change the light bulb because they don't make them anymore, I don't think I'd like that.

did you know that those bulbs can explode (under normal power even more likely @500w) and smash the screen! also don't not to touch the bulb with bare fingers as this also can cause an explosion!
