1lb Gummy Bear

FeaturedContest Winner
Back again with another instructable this time I will show you how to make a giant gummy bear.  This instructable was requested by my wife.  The steps are roughly the same as the Gummy shot glass which can be found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Gummy-Shot-Glass/

Step 2: The Procedure

With the following recipe I was able to make a 1.2 lb gummy bear.
  1. Place 1 1/3 cups hot water in a small sauce pan. Pour the Jello and unflavored gelatin over the water. We will have a saturated mixture that is very thick an grainy
  2. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Place sauce pan over medium heat and stir until gelatin is dissolved completely, about 5 minutes.
  4. When mixture is liquid and all gelatin has dissolved, remove from heat.
  5. Let cool for 3 minutes and then pour into the bear mold.
  6. After the bear is poured put it in the fridge on a plate for about 60 min
  7. When it has solidified carefully remove it from the mold.
  8. To prevent them from sticking, put a small amount of cornstarch in your hand and rub it onto the gummy bear so it will not stick in the bag you will store it in

I am in the works on making a bigger one, I just have to get enough jello and a bigger mold!!
Bigger is better right? I plan on making a huge gummy bear using the bear shaped containers they sell animal crackers in....I'll post my results (good or bad) after I eat through a tub of animal crackers!

ick I hate cherry jello, I bet this would be awesome if you did it in green or yellow :P
instead of cornstarch you could use citric acid and make a one pound sour bear
. . . u, my friend, r brilliant! :D

is that all "gummi" is? Jello?
I've made one before (actually with this same mold) using actual gummi bears. Buy a whole bunch and sort them out by color. Use the microwave and a glass or measuring cup to melt the gummies and pour them into the mold (spray the mold with a bit of Pam or something). Don't bother using a pot on the stove, it makes a huge mess. The micowave will melt the gummies quickly so keep an eye on it, and it will take a long time to cool down.

If you use actual gummies you will get better handling properties (jello, even the finger kind, tends to start to melt at room temperature) and "authentic" gummi bear taste.

With this recipe yes, but with most store bought they have a lot of additives.
