Introduction: Hot Toffee Apple and 19 More Food Inspired Cocktails

Time to get those pinkies up and the ice ready because I've got 20 cocktails inspired by food.

And boy, am I tired!

Hot Toffee Apple Cocktail

For 1 cup of hot apple cider, add 1 oz black strap rum, 1 oz crème de cacao, 1 oz amaretto, and 1 oz butterscotch schnapps.

Step 1: Ginger Lemongrass Soup Cocktail

Inspiration:


Recipe for Lemongrass Simple Syrup (approximately 12 oz):

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and steep 2 stalks of crushed lemongrass (roughly 4” long) for 30 minutes.

Strain.

Reheat infused water and dissolve ½ cup sugar (or sugar substitute).

Store in a glass container and refrigerate.

Recipe for Ginger Lemongrass Soup Cocktail:

In a Collins glass filled with crush ice, pour 1 oz lemongrass simple syrup, 1 oz white rum, and ½ oz coconut rum.

Top with ginger ale.

Garnish with some fresh cilantro and serve with a straw.

Step 2: Andes Mint Cordial

In a 2 oz cordial glass, pour 1 oz of green creme de menthe and top with a dollop (or two) of chocolate ice cream.

Slowly sip the liqueur through the quickly thawing cream layer.

Step 3: Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet Cordial

Recipe:

Shake 1 oz strawberry liqueur and 1 oz limoncello with ice.

Strain into a 2 oz cordial glass.

Step 4: Macadamia Nut Cookie Cordial

Inspiration:


Recipe:

Pour 1 oz macadamia nut liqueur and 1 oz wedding cake vodka into a 2 oz cordial glass.

Serve at room temperature.

Consider doing a salt rim if so inclined.

Step 5: Almond Cherry Cupcake Martini

Inspiration:


Recipe:

Mix 1 oz Amaretto, 1 oz Wedding Cake Vodka, and 1 oz Vodka with approximately 2 oz Cherry Ice Cream.  There's no need for ice - the ice cream will melt and cool the drink down.

Pour into martini glass and garnish with maraschino cherries.

Step 6: Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cordial

Rim 2 oz cordial glass with chocolate sprinkles. I used honey to get them to stick properly.

Shake 1 oz strawberry liqueur and 1 oz white crème de cacao with ice and strain into glass.

Step 7: Mint Ginger Melon Cocktail

In a Collins glass filled with crushed ice, pour 1 oz Midori, ½ oz creme de menthe, and ½ oz white rum.

Top with ginger ale.

Garnish with fresh mint and serve with a straw.

Step 8: Orange Coconut Sticky Rice Cocktail

In a 12 oz glass filled with crushed ice, pour 1 oz triple sec and 1 oz coconut rum.

Top with soy milk.

Garnish with an orange twist and serve with a straw.

Step 9: Coffee Caramel Buzz Cocktail

In a 12-16 oz glass filled with ice, pour 2 oz fresh Espresso and 1½ oz Butterscotch Schnapps.

Top with more ice and then Irish Cream.

Serve with a straw.

Step 10: Carrot Salad Cocktail

Inspiration:

A few things here and there like this Carrot Apple Salad.

Recipe:

In a 12 oz glass filled with ice, pour ½ oz Limoncello, ½ oz Frangelico, 1 oz 99 Apples, and 1 oz White Brandy.

Top with carrot juice.

Garnish with a lemon slice and serve with a straw.

Step 11: Pecan Cinnamon Roll Cordial

Pour ½ oz cinnamon schnapps, ½ oz wedding cake vodka, and 1 oz pecan liqueur into a 2 oz cordial glass.

Serve at room temperature.

Step 12: Peach Ginger Crisp Cocktail

Inspiration:


Recipe:

In a 12 oz glass filled with ice (and a couple frozen peach slices if you got 'em), pour 1 oz white rum, 1 oz peach schnapps, ½ oz amaretto, and ½ oz butterscotch schnapps.

Top with ginger ale.

Serve with a straw.

Step 13: Canadian Fire Martini

Shake or stir 1 oz vodka, 1 oz pecan liqueur, ½ oz cinnamon schnapps, ½ oz maple syrup, and a couple dashes of hot sauce with ice.

Strain into a martini glass.

Step 14: Roasted Pear Martini

Shake 1½ oz pear liqueur, 1 oz vodka, 1 oz amaretto, and ½ oz butterscotch schnapps with ice and strain into a martini glass.

Garnish with a fresh pear slice and serve.

Alternatively, rim the glass with sugar in the raw.

Note: This cocktail would probably be better with a bit of cream.

Step 15: Lemon Meringue Pie Cocktail

In a Collins glass filled with crushed ice, pour 1 oz limoncello, ½ oz butterscotch schnapps, and 1 oz wedding cake vodka.

Top with sparkling water.

Garnish with fresh lemon zest and serve with a straw.

Step 16: Creamsickle Cocktail

In an 8 oz glass filled with ice, pour ½ oz Tuaca, ½ oz Butterscotch Schnapps, ½ oz Wedding Cake Vodka, and 1½ oz Cointreau.

Top with heavy cream and serve with a straw.

Step 17: Pineapple Upside Down Cake Cocktail

In a 12 oz glass filled with ice, pour 1 ½ oz butterscotch schnapps and 1 ½ oz spice rum.

Top with pineapple juice.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve with a straw.

Step 18: Bloody Mary in Bell Pepper Cup

Inspiration:


Recipe:

Slice off the top of a bell pepper, remove the ribs, and wash.

Fill with ice and pour 1½ oz Vodka.

Top with bloody mary mix (or V8) and serve with a straw and napkin.

Step 19: German Chocolate Cake Cocktail

In an 8 oz glass filled with ice, pour 1 oz dark creme de cacao, 1 oz coconut rum, and 1 oz pecan liqueur.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve with a straw.
