2DG-Host (Two Display Ghost Host)

Making a 2DG-Host is so easy it’s spooky.

Recycle your old CDs into a stunning Ghost Host within minutes. Are you scared? .

Items needed:

3 or 6 fold CD Booklet

Clear Cd Case (that isn’t scratched up.)

Flat Black CD insert. Any material will do.

Learn How To make Ghost Games Here!

Step 1: Witness a Ghost

At its core this project a Peppers Ghost Apparatus; with a few new tricks up its sleeve.

It worth mentioning, although intended for Video Games, the ghost realm is the limit. Literally.

Step 2: Got a CD Ready?

The instructions speak for themselves. CUT and FOLD to fit any desired medium.
Everyone has different sized screens, so you will have to work that part out for yourself : )

Remember to create a black mirror with a black insert.

And that my friends is how to make the easiest Peppers ghost apparatus ever!

Step 3: Whats New?

All Peppers Ghost Apparatuses share common Flaws.

The first flaw should be described as Pandora’s Box. By default, you can’t naturally interact with the Ghosts; forever doomed behind the windows of Pandora’s Box. This was unsettling to know.

In relation, the second flaws should be described as Purgatory. Not only were the Ghosts trapped inside of Pandora’s Box but they were also bound to designated host screens.

I felt terrible sick for the mistreated Ghosts. Inspired, I set out to design a trap that allowed the Ghost to roam freely; as Ghosts should.

Step 4: Void Angle

The Key that opened Pandora’s Box was to rotate the medium at 45 degrees. Real world axis.
And the The Two Host Screens should be rotated at 90 degrees according to real world axis.

Now you can interact with the Ghost freely. Stick your hand in there! lol
Also, this allowed for a more adoptable design to common mediums such as laptops, ipods, cellphones etc.

Note: IF scaled Larger will fit other mediums such as flat screens or projectors.

Step 5: Bi-Polar Ghost

Beneath the 2DG-Host I placed a powerful rare earth magnet. The mysterious invisible forces from the magnet demonstrated spooky effects when included with the Peppers Ghost illusion. You get a sense of physically touch.

Note: Tech magicians need to apply the concept of 3d printer arm to move the magnet in time with the ghost.

Step 6: Additional Info

One may also consider the 2DG-Host.Looking Glass.
Here's some of my concept Art.

By simply using a bolt, you can adjust the Top Looking Glass to fit any desired medium.

Simply cut two slots for sliding into thin plexiglass.
(The thicker the glass is, the more of a doulbe image you will see. This is NOT good.
I have even used transparent paper at times. The stuff you use in school with those projects!

The bottom looking glass would be a Black mirror.

Note: Water works well for the bottom looking glass as well.

Experiment and have fun!!

Step 8:

Step 9: Don't Get to Scared!

Have Fun and Experiment with my techniques.

If I understand you correctly, this is indeed a home version of the old stage illusion used by magicians. Could this projection work with any video medium? (Films and games for example?) And a video of the construction and set-up would be a great help in making the whole thing a little clearer.

Yip, exactly. A Peppers Ghost illusion.
The difference is, its designed to use Two screens, allowing the Ghosts images to pass from one screen to the other easily, because other Peppers Ghost illusion use Static images (appears to stay in one spot)

My main focus was to make video games but you can make whatever you want.
The device is made to fit different sized mediums. So, yes you can use whatever medium you what. Just scale it to the size you need.

I plan on making a video later for the more advanced prototype. Just wanted to share the concept for now if people wanted to tinker with it.

I have also posted another instructable called, How to make Ghost Games. This will teach you how to make content for the 2DG concept. :)
