Introduction: 3 Highly Effective Methods to Clean Your Oven

About: My name is Alexis and I enjoy lots of things. I guess I just enjoy life! At present I work as a marketing executive/supervisor/co-ordinator at Greener Carpet Cleaners. Although it may sound boring, I love what…

It is no secret that one of the most irritating cleaning problems is the oven. Every housewife (and not only) knows grease has the annoying habit to stick to the oven if left for a long period of time.
Have you ever tried to scrub it? I tried a couple of days ago for the first time and was stunned by the complexity of the task. It took me hours of rubbing until it finally got its original colour. So, here is a good advice for you-don't be lazy(like me) and clean your oven regularly in order to avoid nervous breakdowns. Not to mention the smoke and the ''wonderful'' odours.

Step 1: A Single Metal Spatula Can Be Your Salvation

Don't try to remove the stains armed only with a pair of gloves and some kind of detergent. Use a metal spatula instead. Remember, your moves have to be gentle, otherwise you will harm the cover.
The slow and thorough scrubbing is the only key to success when it comes to ovens, even professional cleaners claim that.

Step 2: Don't Use Too Much Products

Soap bubbles look great, but they won't help you much in this type of cleaning if you overdo with them. Not seeing exactly where you are rubbing may trick you to miss out some of the smaller stains. Trust me, I can tell. This unpleasant scenario happens to me occasionally when doing the dishes(I am not guilty they make the detergent's odour so pleasant nowadays). For better visibility, don't leave the curtains closed. The more you see, the better(Especially true for cobwebs. You never know where their owners can hide).

Step 3: If the Spatula Method Fail

...or has smaller than the expected effect, you can rely on ammonia. The best tactics is to spritz the whole oven with a spray bottle and to leave it for five or ten minutes. Ten add some baking soda and just a few drops of white vinegar. No, we're not preparing a salad, regardless of how it looks from aboard. Watch the mixture bubble for a minute, then clean the surface with scrub sponge. Last, rinse with a regular sponge. If you are not a fan of heavy chemicals(like me) this method is the perfect eco-friendly solution.

Step 4: Don't Forget This

Make sure you have removed the mixture properly and completely. Once baked, cleaning detergents have strongly repugnant smell.
