After trying out some basic shape modifications with text I thought it would be fun to start mixing up techniques. And then to try out some painting for the fun of it.

The letters and stars here were first created in Illustrator and then extruded in Rhino. The only extra bit here was that I made an outline shape that was extruded a little bit past the main shape. After that it was a matter of bending, twisting, and tapering of the shapes.

The results were 3D printed on an Objet 3D printer in white plastic. That was then painted in this order:
  1. gray Krylon primer
  2. black gloss spraypaint
  3. model paints (should've used acrylic, though)
  4. black sharpie to cover up the messy paint and define the letters better
