The letters and stars here were first created in Illustrator and then extruded in Rhino. The only extra bit here was that I made an outline shape that was extruded a little bit past the main shape. After that it was a matter of bending, twisting, and tapering of the shapes.
The results were 3D printed on an Objet 3D printer in white plastic. That was then painted in this order:
- gray Krylon primer
- black gloss spraypaint
- model paints (should've used acrylic, though)
- black sharpie to cover up the messy paint and define the letters better
