4 Wheel Steering - Knex Car

This is Officaly my first Instructable so please if you have any advice on how to make my projects better or if I haven't explained something well enough please feel free to criticise or ask.

I was going thruogh the site and I saw all the different things that users have made out of knex. Guns, Cannons, grenades, stands, ext. One area that I thought was laking was the knex cars, the ones that had motors couldn't steer and the ones that could steer didn't have motors.

I hope that this Instructable will help bridge that gap... Then again it would be cool if sombody could mount a gun on this thing... :)

Step 1: Drive Wheel

Yes you read that correctly. This car has four wheels that steer the thing and one that actually moves the thing...

I did spend a good amount of time on this and if that little thing bugs you then either change it on yours or just stop reading.

The gear system turns the two axles in opposite directions, that makes the wheels into an arch shape, then the whole thing moves on that arch. The picks in step 3 show it pretty well.

you'd need to supersize the car, or use a small fleet to move that thing. or, you can build a special car with a gear system that can pull a gear from itself to stop the thing, or to change the direction.

Or just make it tow my mini. It has wheels :-)

Maybe a couple killerk's to start it off... and maybe a rocket launcher ... and a couple of laser cannons.... that new ninja baby weapon! And maybe some garden gnomes... ;D! and to top it off with stealth feature... a box!

I actually took the thing apart... needed the snap connecters for my quad bow and I lack any video software at all...

This instructable is awesome! However you can improve the shape because it looks more like a cube than an actual car. I give this a 4*.

nice, knex cars. besides knex guns i also make cars. i have a really good model of a 57 chevy. i also make working lowriders and dune buggies. i dont have any mottors though :(
