41 LED Flasher Circuit using 555 IC

Step 4View the final product

Here is a video of my final result. The colors I chose made it look like a police light. I should have thought this through and not have chosen those colors together :)

This project was found at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden in a beginners 555 timer circuit page.

I bought the LEDs from http://www.abctronics.com

The project inspiration URL is now http://www.bowdenshobbycircuits.info/ (not http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden).

I'd actually never seen that site before, so I got 2x value from reading this instructable. Thanks!

very very nice instructable, i'm curious though as to how long is the battery life with those 4 rechargable AA's while constantly on or one hour on, one hour off flipping. I'd like to put something very similar to this on my bicycle so greater safety at night, i'd like to put roughtly 40 to create ground lighting and another 40 for defining the frame with 10 leds on each wheel down the middle of a couple spokes each with their own off switch and batteries on each wheel, a working brake light when i squeeze the rear break pads, one main thing is i's love to have high and low beams for the front for when I go dwn VERY dark paths. so basically i'm digging myself a HUGE project. but my main concern is battery life, how often would i have to recharge batteries and such. :S I might ned a heavy car battery. LOL
