WARNING: The Following Instructable Is Extremely Addictive. Not for the Faint of Heart.
You are now always only 5 minutes away from Ice Cream. Are you prepared?
  • also works great with yogurt!
A very special thanks to noahw for all of the amazing time and effort put into making this video for me.

Step 1: Ingredients

Picture of Ingredients
  • 1 package frozen fruit (I used raspberries)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Step 2: Make Ice Cream!!!!

Picture of Make Ice Cream!!!!

Combine the frozen berries, sugar, cream and vanilla in a food processor or blender. Process until the fruit is roughly chopped and mixture resembles ice cream.

Step 3: Eat!

Picture of Eat!

Your ice cream is ready to enjoy!
Eat now if you can't wait, or freeze for firmer texture.

Should there be any leftovers (ha!), they can be frozen for up to a week.

I can't wait to try this with chocolate syrup incorporated!

Does pure cane sugar work?

nvriezen made it! (author)2016-09-07

It already tasted good without freezing it^^
I made it with yoghurt, icing sugar(and a little bit of normal sugar) and fresh pears.
It tasted more like bananas though xd probably because of the sugar.

HelenH51 (author)2016-08-12

can you make this with whipped cream?

marthasway (author)2015-03-10

First batch: peaches with a few drops of almond extract.

Second batch: mango chunks with lime zest.

Next batch: ???

The possibilities are endless!

clongoria (author)2014-01-19

interestedturtle (author)2013-12-17

This looks great ! Have you tried chocolate yet?

Chikpea (author)2013-12-04

Oh boy, YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bowow0807 (author)2011-08-02

schooch this seems more like gelato than ice cream because ice cream is made with egg yolks and other stuff

DrWhovian (author)bowow08072013-09-16

If it has egg yolks and cream, it's a frozen custard! My personal favorite, if you want an incredible frozen custard recipe, look up Alton Brown Good Eats on youtube, Churn Baby, Churn I think the episode is called. If it's just dairy (no eggs), it's ice cream! No dairy at all, sorbet or gelato or a number of other frozen concoctions! Sherbet is generally like ice cream, but the bulk of the mass is in fruit. Also, I realize this is over two years late, but I hope some one will find this useful.

yeah ur right but nowadays everything frozen is ice cream :-)

thats true

CandyAnnSwizzB (author)bowow08072012-04-02

Thats not true at all. Egg yolks? Never! Just heavy whipping cream (not whipped. the stuff in a carton) sugar, whichever ingredients you like, and bam! Of course you need an ice cream maker. You can also make butter with heavy cream... just pour some cream into a jar (or something with a spillproof lid) add a dash or so of salt, and shake it vigorously till the cream solidifies. Not lying!

eiphos (author)2013-08-08

Great recipe, but try replacing the the sugar with ripe frozen bananas - delicious1

jjone538 (author)2012-07-09

Could You Use Chocolate?

cattibalistic (author)2011-10-23

I'm going to make this, but my blender doesn't work. The strawberries I'm using are rock solid so maybe I'll find a hammer. :)

artdreams (author)2011-10-01

Have been making this since I saw it last year YUUUM! And Thank you!

Tweaking: I love strawberry best, so I let the berries thaw just enough to chop by hand, then refreeze them so they don't end up in big chunks. I do a whole (big Costco) bag ahead of time because I know I'll use them and can deep freeze them this way.

I also first wondered "size of bag of berries," then found it doesn't really matter. I have a junior sized food processor, so throw in a couple handfuls of berries, and the sugar, then just add a stream of cream while it's whizzing until it suddenly thickens. Versatile.

But wait! Last night, I made it with nice, thick, non-fat Greek yogurt (which I made in my crockpot, another story), This time, frozen peach bits, strawberries and a large splash of vanilla.

Don't know that it's any better than with cream, but I could eat a huge bowl of it for the same calories.

destructopop (author)2011-07-10

SUCCESS! Blender Free success!
We are poor broke students and thus have no cash moneys. We don't have a blender or a food processor. Here was what we did:
We used raspberries because that's what boyfriend wanted. I laid out all of our raspberries on our cutting board, took our largest kitchen knife, and chopped the crap out of them. I cut them longways, sideways, and both diagonals. I kept chopping until they were a fine mush. I set out our cream and sugar, put those in the bowl, and whisked them on a cool surface until they all thickened a little, and then threw it in the freezer. We tried a LITTLE (very VERY runny still... We didn't want to spoil the cream) and LOVED the taste! It's freezing a bit firmer now, I'll review again when it's fully frozen, but so far so good! Just chop the crap out of the fruit and whisk that bad boy like a mad person. :D

By the way... I froze it for 2ish hours of dinner and How I Met Your Mother (Checking on it and stirring once every thirty minutes... Between episodes. ;P) and it was WONDERFUL. Thick, creamy, a little chunky, and SO tasty.
Again, we didn't have a blender or food processor, so this is just chopped and whisked! Came out JUST fine!

Lesedi (author)2011-03-06

Our blender broke :( any ideas on how to do it without one?

wyrdmaege (author)Lesedi2011-07-04

when I was in 5th grade, we took two different sized coffee cans & made ice cream. small can had ingredients. put it into the larger can, added smashed ice & ice cream salt (which I find in my grocery store with the regular salt), covered both with their plastic lids, and then rolled them for a while on the blacktop. I've also seen youtube vids where they use plastic bags instead of coffee cans.

The important thing is to agitate the mix while it's freezing.

Lesedi (author)wyrdmaege2011-07-07

Thanx ill try that. We replaced the blender but ill try that just for fun.

Nelyan (author)Lesedi2011-03-09

Seconded: I still don't happen to own a blender, all I have is a hand blender without a cup. Could it be done with that?

oanderson (author)Nelyan2011-05-01

stretch cling film over the top

ostomesto (author)Nelyan2011-03-13

idk maybe barrow one from a neighbor, or pound them continously with a hammer, but probably not.

Lesedi (author)ostomesto2011-03-13

@ostomesto just bawt some ice cream today gonna beat the life outta those bearries in the morning see how it goes. Thanx

ostomesto (author)Lesedi2011-03-13

oh hahaha i was kinda joking but it might work, actually it could work out nice. i think it could if you did it right

redglitter (author)2011-07-04

Hey, this is cool! :D And it's something even I could make! I've never made any homemade ice cream because all the recipes I've seen are too complicated or have to many steps/need special tools. This looks like a cinch and it's the one I'm going to try. Thank you! :)

victorian_lace (author)2011-06-17

I *just* made this. OMG! This is so amazingly awesome, thank you so much for posting this. I used strawberries as I adore strawberry ice cream and I used a blender, since I don't have a food processor. It turned out sweet, thick, creamy and so very strawberry-y. It's sooo much better than store bought. And it's healthier and cheaper too! Thanks again :)

husamwadi (author)2011-06-13

....and for 10 second ice cream; have a dollar bill in hand, wait for musical noises, run out and ambush the ice-cream truck XD. Plus you can get flavors like spongebob, american pop, etc :P

nice recipe, and I hope you realize this easy ice-cream will be the reason for the surprise 10lb's of magic fat i'm gunna gain :)

look at that i used 3 smiles in one comment!

wernarner84 (author)2011-05-21

Could you make chocolate icecream using cocoa/chocolate bars?

nash krywka (author)2011-05-21
