This made me sad. I have all my old disks and a couple old drives, just to teach my kids what "floppy disks" were when they get older.

I know its a dead media, but its like chopping up an old reel to reel tape drive for the leds.

Don't worry. I still use 5.25 inch floppy disks, with my Apple IIe. I just had about 5 boxes of 10 disks, so I thought, why not?

Because it's a waste? Just use their jewel case or some other case from stores like the Dollar Store, Poundland, ect. I have a drawer full of 5.25'' disks for my C64, and i will NEVER do something like this to them. Even not with a dead one, that would be fun to show to children later.
