Always wanted one of those controller addons which give you the ability to send sound bites through xbox live? And then dont want to fork out the money? Well in this insuructable i will show you how to make you own with a cheap MP3 Player

Step 1: Get Your Parts

You will need:
An xbox 360 controller (with or without chatpad)
A Cheap MP3 player
A 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable
A 3.5mm to 2-2.5mm Connector
Some Blu-tack or Tape

Step 2: Attach the MP3 Player to the Controller

Using the blu-tack or the tape which ever, Stick the MP3 player onto the bottom of the controller, I find that the battery pack is best as you can still reach the controls and use the controller accordingly.

Step 3: Plug It In

Simple step. Plug in all the cables, one end into the headphone jack of the Mp3 player, the other into the adaptor, The adaptor into the controller and your away. Also then tidy up the cabling so it looks neat

Step 4: Load Up Some Sounds

I found that music comes out very distorted and not easy to hear. Voice and snippets are perfect. I got hold of some Team Fortress 2 Taunts, Duke Nukem and Pacman sounds. Load them onto the MP3 player, Connect it up, hit play, turn the volume down to around 7ish or it will be too loud

Step 5: The End

So inconclusion you have made a cheap and easy to use Trashtalk of your own. I find the only downside to this method is that you are not able to talk at the same time. Unless you can split the cable and wire in a microphone. I may try it.

Overall the controller is easy to hold, The Mp3 player doesnt obstuct any movement. Its all good
DIY - Make everyone on Live mute you ;)
thats just..... lol
lol They will be pissed If you go on live with this activated XD
That's the point in a trash talker.
i tryed this with an iphone for the input and got nothing is it as simple as having a wire going from the 3.5mm jack to the 2.5mm jack?
I was hoping so, but I haven't tried this yet, you see I want this for the opposite reason, I'm making a cable so i can use my turtle beach for music.
yo can u tell me where u got your parts from
Hmmm, I found all of these parts in the drawer downstairs! MP3 player i got online, the MP3 player can be anything, the cable i think i got from a ipod speaker dock, the little adaptor we have had for years, A Place like Maplins eletronics? or ebay? ooh Radio Shack if your in the states
lol i just got the parts today i fixed it up but my freinds are saying it sounds like static any help
I think you might have a short somewhere in the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
The xbox 360 controller wasn't made to stream mp3s to other xbox 360s. it was made to stream voice. so of course the quality will suck. I used to do this on the original xbox.<br />
Volume too loud?
no its n prety low any other suggestins
A good dollar store will have most of the parts for cheap
i tryed it but it wont play over live i sed ipod nd it wont pick up the sound any ideas
you should get a splitter and hook one up to your microphone and one to your speaker.....press record and viola! ventrilo harassment on xbox live!
i might just add the port and put the sounds on my ipod touch and use that
wow i just found a 2.5 mm addapter in my car so it looks like i will be doing this soon. great instructable!
