I came upon this contest by chance.  So of course I jumped at the opportunity to bake!  Brainstorming over several new cupcake ideas and the with the help of my sister (Carrie), my boyfriend (Clifton) and my very good friend (Ashley) I introduce to you 'The Trio'  an amazing combination of salty and sweet!

Step 1: A little sweet to start

First step is to preheat your oven to 350/325 depending on what bake ware you will be using.  Then begin mixing together your favorite chocolate cake recipe or if you prefer something simpler just get your favorite boxed cake mix and prepare according to box.

If you don't care for the hot fudge, or it is not available, perhaps you could substitute caramel instead.

These sound amazing. Any idea what would be the UK equivalent for the hot fudge and the Cool Whip? I Googled the Cool Whip and people are suggesting vegetable based cream substitutes, is that what Cool Whip is? And what about the hot fudge? Is that really just fudge that is heated?

Cool Whip is a brandname for a whipped cream. It's made of oils, syrups, and cream (among other things) so perhaps that's indeed what you are looking for. Hot fudge is like chocolate syrup. Only more fudgey tasting. I think. I don't like it so I always get regular chocolate syrup on my desserts :)
