Introduction: ALESIS MultiMix 8 USB FX - How to Make It to the Power Supply

Standard Mixer ALESIS MultiMix 8 comes with a power supply under the American standard (120 volt).

Include a block of 220 volts certainly it can not burn it at once.

The main feature of the native power supply is that the manufacturer has made on the secondary winding of the transformer two outputs to 18 volts (at 0.4 A), but the trick is that the transformer output you have not contact 4 and 3.

The secondary windings are connected to each other middle (1 - 2 + 3 - 4), the second output 18 volts apparently used for phantom power microphones after conversion.

Step 1: Selection of the Power Transformer

Standard power transformer is shown in the picture.

Which exit? It is as follows:

We find 1 transformer with two outs in the secondary winding of 18 volts and a current of at least 0.4 A. I did not have this, and I bought two identical transformer (4 USD) with outputs of 18 volts and a current of 0.6 A (model BV EI 482 1243) German company Hahn, it is shown in the picture.

Step 2: Putting New Power Supply

Transformers placed in a sealed enclosure and look very dignified.

Then we look for a suitable body for this bunch, if you are lucky and you have bought one transformer with two outputs to 18 volts, the housing can be made more compact than to get at me. I took my two transformers for housing Gianta 1022BF.

Sui our transformers in housing Solder 220 Volts. The other end of the output of the secondary winding of the first transformer is connected to the first end of the secondary output of the second transformer. Next, solder wire, which goes directly to the mixer, it is shown in the picture.

1 pin number will go to the 1 output of the secondary winding of the transformer 1.

2 pin number 2 will go to the second output of secondary winding of the transformer 1, which is connected to the first output of secondary winding of the second transformer.

3 pin number will go to the second output of secondary winding of the second transformer

If you have version with a single transformer having a secondary winding on the two outputs 18 volts, the simple contact between the end and beginning of the first and second secondary windings, respectively.

That's all . It works without problems. You can add a fuse and an indicator of power, because it is that of the original block is nothing except wires and transformer there.
