This is a great idea!  It might be useful to point your readers to a circuit diagram for assembling the LEDs and resistors.  Here is a good web page that calculates the correct configuration based on the battery and LED type: http://www.geekosystem.com/video-games-attack-in-french-short-pixels/

You can get the information you need off the LED package or from the site you bought them from.
