Another great vid, wuick and effective. When I was younger, I would always set the seat so I could touch the ground flat on both feet. Now that I have quite a few years under my belt and riding road bikes, I set my seat like you say, with your knee slightly bent. Mounting and stopping come natural to me now, even though I cannot touch the ground while on the seat. Even though you said Men usually prefer having the seat tilted up, I like having it a bit forward on my 10 speed, because when im in the crouched position on the bars, the tip of the seat would tend to be a "scrotum squisher" for me when horizontal!!

I sped up the process by using some leather protection cream. It took about 15 hours, which I was told is a really short period. I was told that this wasn't recommended, but it worked for me. Your mileage may vary (literally). One thing I noticed is that once the saddle had broken in, I had to change the seat angle! This is because when you get the saddle, it's flat, but once you break it in, it's got your rear-end stamped in it, which changes the situation a bit. I found that before it was broken in, I'd tend to slip to the rear, but with the dimples in place, my "cheekbones" rested into position so I tilted the thing up a bit and since that's day, it's pure heaven. Even on multi-day trips, my rear is never sore and I never get the case of numb nuts. These things should be on every bike by default. They look great too, which is a nice added bonus!

That saddle (the Brooks B17) rides like a dream. It's probably the only part of my bike that I'd never change.

Agreed! It's been soooo comfy right from the start... can't wait to see what happens when it is broken in!
great stuff, I was just looking for this info, very handy.

Great job, some of these things seem to be common sense but when you first start out it is good to know.
