Digital Fresco - Affresco digitale

Arriving at Roland DG Mid Europe head office, people are fascinated by a wonderful fresco applied on the wall just before entering the company.
It is not wall paper, but a particular application that allows to transfer just the colours inside the pores of the wall. The media, in this case a fabric, will be removed at the end of the process and the colour will be perfectly soaked up from the wall. The result could be subsequently protected, integrated and embellished with the commonest protections and paints for decorations.

The idea of this digital fresco was born last year, when Roland DG Mid Europe was restoring its building and this big wall was so empty. Being Roland one of the biggest producers of large format machine, why do not exploit its own abilities and capabilities to decorate and beautify its seat?

The chosen image portrays a battle and its creator, the professional illustrator Ivan Stalio, was happy and proud to offer his work to create this epic application.

L'applicazione in breve

Non si tratta di carta da parati ne' di un riporto superficiale, ma di un sistema che spinger� solo il colore ed un velo leggero di sostanze traspiranti dentro i pori della parete. Il supporto (tessuto) verr� rimosso al termine dell'applicazione e il colore sar� perfettamente assorbito dalla parete. Il risultato potr� essere protetto, integrato, impreziosito con tutte le pi� comuni tipologie di protettivi e vernici per decorazioni, essendo il decoro stesso poroso e traspirante.

L'idea grafica

L'idea � balenata l'anno scorso quando si lavorava per la ristrutturazione dello stabile. Grande parete, grande stampa. Tra le varie illustrazioni mi ha colpito questa scena di battaglia di Ivan Stalio, un illustratore professionista che � stato ben felice di fornirmi il file Battaglia delle Termopili in alta risoluzione per questa epica realizzazione.

Step 1 Graphic preparation and Printing - Preparazione e stampa

Putting the project into practice was not so easy. The first problem concerned the panelization. After some tests made with the firm Shockline, producer of the printing media PS Fresco, it was decided to use a panelization for dynamic graphics. The file was duplicated and the technicians had to create some guide lines based on the maximum printable area in height. On each panel it was selected a graphic continuity based on the contrast, deleting the parts that would have been printed on the upper panel.

Once the PS Fresco had been uploaded, the technicians started to print the graphic with a Roland XC-540 at standard quality.

Il primo problema era legato alla pannellizzazione. Nel posare l'affresco non potevamo usare il sistema di sovrapposizione utilizzato per le grafiche che superano il formato massimo di stampa. Da esperimenti effettuati con Giuseppe Biondi della Shockline, produttore del materiale di stampa PS Fresco e partner in questa posatura, si ý deciso di usare la pannellizazione per dinamiche grafiche.

In pratica abbiamo duplicato il file e creato delle linee guida basate sulla massima area stampabile in altezza. Su ogni pannello abbiamo selezionato una continuitý grafica basata sul contrasto cancellando le parti che sarebbero state stampate nel pannello superiore.

Questi i tre file da mandare in stampa con la pannellizazione basata sull'immagine.

Io parlo spagnolo, ma tradotto in inglese tutte le instructabli per il mio rispetto per la "casa", che parlano inglese. Penso che vuoi dovrebbe fare lo stesso. Utilizza Google Translator, è facile e gratuito. Quando io ero in Italia sono riuscito molto bene a parlare in italiano, anche se mi costa due anni per cercare di imparare. (I speak Spanish, but I translated into English all my instructables out of respect for "homeowners" who speak English. I think you should do the same. Use Google Translator, it's easy and free. When I was in Italy I managed very well to speak in Italian, though cost me two years to try to learn. )

I don't understand it, but the finished result looks great. I'd advise that you use 3632740584_02eeb4a19b.jpg (step 7) as your main image to show this better. L
