PEOPLE. THIS IS A GREAT GUN I HAVE IT. YOU DO NOT NEED A MOD FOR THIS. ITS $30.00 PEOPLE!! NOT TEN!!! GET THIS BRAND!!
asaqwert says: Aug 14, 2009. 10:42 AM
i'm sorry to say this, but these "mods" are the stupidest i've ever seen (this is worse than the Yahoo questions forum. Before you freak out and ban me, hear me out (i won't be rude or swear at you, i promise). Any gun (airsoft or otherwise) gets it's accuracy from the spin that is put on the projectile as well as the distance that the projectile is guided towards the target. Hence why a pistol is much less accurate than a sniper rifle (among other reasons, the barrel on a sniper rifle is much longer, therefore the projectile is guided towards the target for a much longer distance before being released and allowed to be affected by outside variables). If you try to do this "mod," what you will find is that it is physically impossible (especially with TAPE for god's sake!) to get the barrel to stay rigidly in place and in a perfectly straight line with respect to the original barrel's center line. There is just no possible way to keep it steady using tape (or glue or most anything other than possibly epoxy or a plastic welder). Even if you could keep it steady, there is no possible way that you are going to line up the two barrels with each other perfectly enough. Even being off by half a degree with greatly affect the trajectory of the BB; now imagine you are off by the 5 degrees or more that you can see in the picture above (look at the add-on "barrel," you will notice it sags down and is not pointing where the gun would have originally pointed). this gun is going to shoot nowhere near where you aim it if you use the orignal sights. now, you could (in thoery) adjust the aimer (or change it to a different one) so that you are aiming at the exact point that the bb hits, but you are never going to get any kind of reliable consistency from a gun like this. since the barrels aren't going to be perfectly matched together there is going to be a seam that the bb will slam into, causing it to come out of the barrel with a weird spin. the add-on barrel will also never be even close to the right size (cheap LPEG guns have barrels of a size that is 6.08-6.11mm in diameter and they are horribly inaccurate and inconsistent. now take the add-on barrel you propose... it's probably (at absolute BEST) going to be 6.25mm or more... imagine the bb bouncing down this barrel, woobbling and hitting the sides. now try to imagine how random the shots will be placed, depending on what way the bb was bouncing when it exist the barrel. these "mods" that you see all over this site are so silly and rediculous... there's no way they coudl work. even a real gun-smith would NEVER just "add on" a barrel extention... they just can't be made to match perfectly enough that it would make the gun MORE accurate... even silencers that screw onto a barrel are made SPECIFICALLY to not touch the bullet (except in certain types which use "wipers" made of rubber to barely "wipe" the bullet and slow it down to subsonic speeds) in any way at all whatsoever, as it will screw up the trajectory severely. just a heads up to everyone reading this and other "mods" where you add a barrel extension or similar device onto a gun (especially when you tape it.... what's with people on this site and duct taping things together and then claiming it's a finished product or that it looks good.....

Exactly, since this is a spring gun the barrel will not supplement range. Longer barrels only work on gas guns because the gas is driving the airsoft pellet out, meaning more space for it to drive=faster speed=more range.

DUDE DON'T SHOOT ME IN THE FACE!
Don't worry, I'm aiming at you knees.

Q: How do you make a $10.00 springer more accurate?
A: Buy a $20.00 springer in the first place and even that's hardly better.

Accuracy mods on airsoft are not exactly cheap.
So they are best saved for guns that are of a higher quality in the first place.
This mod, If properly done (using a guide rode and epoxy) may gain distance, but not accuracy.

Heck even your ammo effects accuracy, there is no way you would ever catch me putting 1¢ per shot into that gun let alone some of my 15¢ per shot miniball style tracers. Listen to asaqwert, he is letting you know to replace the barrel with a tighter one, I recommend 6.04mm, but then you had better spend good money on your ammo. I can practically garontee that if you buy 10k shots for 8 bucks you will run onto more than one measuring 6.4+ mm diamiter, and it will happen when your in a fire fight.
Then again, somebody who wants to improve a cheap gun dosent exactly have $50 plus bucks plunked down for an entry fee hoping to be the last man/team standing for the prize money.

I hope the wrong person doesnt see this and try an extention with a real pistole, or do I?
Hi Mr. Darwin!

I own that gun. I never use it since i got an AEG, but i think it performed great out of the box. Still, a longer barrel really helps. I'd only put this on if it was my only gun and didn't play in AEG wars.

my goodness... i just looked at that picture of the gun again.... that "add-on barrel" is not even CLOSE to aimed the right way.... how could you ever expect that thing to increase your accuracy? leave lone the consistency.... *sigh*

I want to do something similar to my LPEG, but I think using something like this, or a pen would be much too small. Is there anything else with a 6mm diameter you can get from a hardware store you can get for cheap? Like a copper pipe? It's an A-15 by the way.
xZCodmaNZx in reply to PuddleOfMudd25Jul 20, 2009. 8:35 AM
nope pen will fit i think

I have the exact same gun, got it at the exact same store, and made a silencer out of a smencil tube. I had no idea that there was an instructable for this. I made mine differently though.
