Step 1: What you need.

what size of pipe you want is completely up to you but I strongly recommend 1.5 size pvc pipe.

what you need.

1 piece of 1.5in, 2 foot long pvc pipe.(make sure your pipe is strong and thick so it doesn't blow up because were using compressed air.

another piece of 1.5in pvc pipe but this time 20 inches long.

a 1.5in end cap.

1.5in pvc ball valve

a bicycle tire valve

pvc glue

and cold weld.

hey do i need to have the cold weld
hungyhipo 2 says: Nov 30, 2010. 3:16 PM
I have some questions. One, how much does this cost to build? Two, what is cold weld and what do you do if you don't have it. And Three, what is the psi rating for this pipe and how much psi do you fill it up to
colonelsanders in reply to hungyhipo 2Oct 27, 2011. 6:05 AM
cold weld is a steel-based two part epoxy. its called bold weld because it supposedly has the strength of a weld. the brand i bought could withstand 2900 PSI.
spottydodz in reply to hungyhipo 2Jan 4, 2011. 10:02 PM
to answer your questions i can imagine its about 30 dollars. number 2 cold weld is pvc glue which melts the pvc together unbreakably. Finaly different pipes have different pressure ratings for example shcedule 80 and 40 are i think the 2 highest rating pvc pipes and can handle 180 psi but if u use the wrong pipe u could end up with a whole lot o pvc shrapnel in your face.

I bought all this at home depot. The total came to $30.96

a few things:

Could it possibly be used effectively as a mortar?

How much more psi can you add and not be in serious danger? like 175?

how far could it shoot an Easter Egg full of bb's?

Other than those questions i have, i love this model. Its simple, and seems very effective. Thanks so much! if you could answer any of these questions, that'd help me alot
colonelsanders in reply to AirsoftGodOct 27, 2011. 6:00 AM
It depends on what your pipe is rated to. (the PSI) Mine were rated to 280 psi, although i think if i pumped it up that much the end cap would explode off. the pressure rating is usually stamped on the sode of the pipe in black ink (sometimes gray). I guess it really depends on how strong the pipe joints are.
Also, i have used my air cannon as a mortar firing paintballs. great range, but really inaccurate.

could you post more about how to attach the valve and other parts cuz im gonna make one but its not a very good pic and i cant see how you did it
colonelsanders in reply to airsoftbeast40Oct 27, 2011. 5:56 AM
When I built it, i just drilled a hole in the end cap that was big enough for the bicycle valve to screw in tightly. when it is about 2/3rds of the way in, mix up some cold weld and seal around it.

I think your design looks good...

but a lot of people use air cannons for bazookas but I still haven't found anything that is good to use as ammo... I want to be able to use this in a real airsoft match... so how do I make something that is a shell when launched but bb's when striking... and make the bb's powerful... that is the real question...

good job though... I really do like your design... Others I have seen like this don't look as cool and is a mess of parts...
colonelsanders in reply to 2bad4uOct 22, 2011. 10:28 AM
You could ise a discarding sabot. aka a water bottle cut almost in half and filled with pellets/bbs/paintballs. this way the sabot (pronounced suh-bow) falls off in flight and lets the projectiles fly in a relatively tight spread.
boredom99 in reply to 2bad4uSep 6, 2011. 6:21 PM
and also a mini pocket vortex look it up on amazon
boredom99 in reply to 2bad4uSep 6, 2011. 6:16 PM
you can also use foam pipe insulator and cut it down the sides and tape the bottom of it so when launched, it will open like a shotgun wad and spray the bbs everywhere.
jjay10 in reply to 2bad4uFeb 4, 2010. 4:27 PM
You could always use pvc the size of a 12 gage shotgun wad for bb use. I have done the same thing for an old paintball gun, a 20 gage shot gun wad fits a little bit losely, but pour bbs down the barrel and you've got yourself a powerful shot gun.

so what if you use 2inch sched. 40 would you get more pressure and distance out of it or should I stick with the 1 1/2? and another question, how much distance do you get out of this?

i really wanna make this and that airsoft mini gun
airsoftbeast40 says: May 31, 2010. 8:40 AM
i made one and its badass! i pump it up to 120 psi but i have higher rated pvc then he does
knuckel says: Feb 7, 2010. 4:29 PM
i read the other poast of a air gun, and yours was the moast use full and i based my gun of yours, take a look
