Mar 6, 2009. 9:11 PMnirvanalover says:
yeah but cotton wont last as long its not as durable.
Oct 27, 2009. 5:46 PMManchesterUtd. says:
Actually, cotton is more durable because it doen not fray like burlap. Burlap frays because it is made out of plant fibers
Aug 7, 2011. 5:14 PMaaronscottaugustinhotmail.com says:
ummm....cotton isnt from animals or synthetic. I pretty sure it grows on a shrub, so technically it is a plant fiber lol. IDK maybe your wording?
Feb 27, 2012. 5:08 PMManchesterUtd. says:
yeah, i know cotton is a shrub, it was my wording. cotton is a plant fiber. and i dont know what i was talking about. my brother must have gotten on the account. BURLAP IS THE BETTER CHOICE. sorry for the confusion. It blends in well and distorts the natural human shape. the whole point of a ghillie suit is to break up the shape of the human body and let it fade into the surrounding world.
Oct 3, 2010. 10:14 AMsquirrelMLM says:
But wouldn't it help for it to fray since its a ghillie suit and you want to sort of blend in? I would think if every string were a constitent size it would just look like you glued green spaghetti to a shirt rather than a shirt made out of plantlife...Correct me if I'm wrong.
Nov 1, 2010. 3:27 PMHitman227 says:
I agree with 'squirrelMLM' you want the burlap to fray because it distorts your
out line. It's harder to pick out a bush in the forest than a speghetti yeti thing. There are negitives to burlap though because its highly flamable ;but its better becuse its
natural plan fiber. You dont want to smell like a new car because a animal
can smell you from a mile away. Some people actually wading into a pond or
rolling in dirt/mud with your suit on (ghillie suit) to make it smell natural. (remember the jute has to be dyed.)
Oct 8, 2010. 5:11 AMnotyou13 says:
you are correct you would want burlap instead because it can be mistaked for real plants more easly
Oct 22, 2011. 7:10 AMCocothewarior says:
It dosen't have to fray, you can attach camo or green or whatever coulour string;
it will last longer that way.
Jan 2, 2012. 11:25 AMfinn12345 says:
you spelt geared wrong and if you were gonna say ghilled what would that mean

Oct 25, 2011. 2:31 PMEverett_McKinley says:

hey guys, you can go to www.opsgear.com to find pretty much everything u need for this (bdu's, jute, netting, etc.) i am in no way affiliated with them, except that i'm a loyal customer =)
May 30, 2011. 1:01 PMGawane88 says:
can't you just buy jute strips instead of buying bags?
Feb 14, 2011. 2:30 PMhungyhipo 2 says:
were can you easily get netting in America
May 11, 2011. 5:48 PMilpug says:
if you live near the ocean, go to the nearest bait shop. they are sure to have some old fish netting for free or cheap. it may be bright colored. if so, spray paint it black.
May 1, 2011. 11:34 AMDavid-Yezbak says:
using a burlap sack cut into 1 inch wide strips work better than just the string becuase it still frays later and becomes string and its easier to attach and is faster. just remmember that.
:D

Better way to secure your net is "Goop" the shoe repair glue, it is about 3$US Wal-Mart carries it in the shoe dept. glue every knot. works wonderfully i have used mine for 6 years.
Jan 26, 2010. 12:37 AMfiremt says:
If you need an idea on were to get your bags I get mine from feed stores, like tractor supply, or farm bearu, any place that sells animal feed use those bags.

the point of a ghillie suit is to break up your image. not make you look like a huge pile of compost

I could not have put it better myself.
Apr 29, 2009. 8:14 PMWolf Seril says:
I bought mine in twine form like I say elsewhere. I bought about 700 feet total, and I have run out halfway through. Now if I could just buy more and tie it on, that wouldn't be a big deal. But since I have to dye it all over again, well, its annoying. For a full front-back suit, you will need around 1500 feet of twine. For a back-sides suit, you will need around 1000. It seems like a lot, but you can get about 400 feet for $2, so it doesn't end up costing all that much. I know you said you are planning on using burlap, but this post is really for everyone else.
Nov 19, 2009. 2:13 PMyourworstnightmare says:
where did u buy your twine? wolf seril
Nov 21, 2009. 10:26 PMWolf Seril says:
Hobby Lobby. You can also find it at hardware/garden stores, but it will be called "Gardening Twine". It is going to be called jute at a craft or fabric store.
Mar 21, 2010. 9:36 PMiBurn says:
Goto ace hardware, I got 100 feet of 1/2" diameter rope. Untwisting it is hell, but it was only $18
Mar 22, 2010. 6:07 PMWolf Seril says:
100 feet for $18... 400 feet for $2 and no untwisting...

I'm thinking I made the right choice.

And I REALLY need to post some pictures of it on here. Its been almost a year.
