i haven't tried. but non drying clay seams like it would work well. you might want to warm it up before trying to get it to stick to something tho. easy to get at any craft stores and walmart and such places have it some times. and it comes in different colors to match your led :P
Glockenator says: Jan 21, 2010. 5:19 PM
some of the clay or sticky tacks or whatever you need to whip at the wall in order for it to stick
Charles IV says: Jun 2, 2007. 9:55 PM
if u let toothpaste dry then roll it into balls that works well for sticking to things...

i see someone has way too much time on their hands XD

if you stick an led throwie to your cars extended antenna you would be able to find your car at night.
viacin in reply to csmilerAug 24, 2008. 9:40 AM
how about covering the car with em instead.
Yerboogieman in reply to viacinMar 26, 2009. 7:43 PM
My car is plastic. =D
csmiler in reply to viacinAug 25, 2008. 8:16 AM
That would be awsome ,but a temptation for car theives
codongolev in reply to csmilerSep 17, 2008. 12:52 PM
unless they were all attached to a remote-controlled unit that shocked anyone who touched them. then it would be a security device.
mettaurlover in reply to codongolevJan 6, 2009. 12:24 AM
or just hooked up to camera flash capacitors. and i'm not talking about those wimpy things in disposable cameras. i'm talking about the kind that are the size of rolls of film and the HUGE nes!
codongolev in reply to mettaurloverJan 7, 2009. 5:42 PM
yeah. just hide one o' them bad boys wired to contacts in the handle. and make something to discharge them at the touch of a button.
nachobobs in reply to codongolevDec 20, 2009. 3:52 PM
 That's what she said......

you know, someone recently picked the lock on my car and tried (and failed) to hotwire it. it would be cool if yo u make a system that shocks anyone who touches your car while it is locked. couldnt be too hard...
natethegreat88 in reply to Shut Up NowOct 2, 2009. 12:09 PM
I was thinking... couldn't you just pick the lock of the car (ignition key) to start it up if you were able to pick the door lock?
Shut Up Now in reply to natethegreat88Oct 3, 2009. 1:41 PM
i guess the guy ran out of time or panicked. either way, i am happy to have my car.
natethegreat88 in reply to Shut Up NowOct 4, 2009. 6:29 AM
Maybe he saw a nicer lookin' car drive by and thought that he didn't want your car anymore.
mettaurlover in reply to Shut Up NowOct 3, 2009. 3:47 PM
not too hard to do that; just yank out the ignition and connect the two wires.
mettaurlover in reply to natethegreat88Oct 2, 2009. 1:08 PM
no; that requires contact between two points inside the lock as well as being turned in order to work; it's two sets of contacts:one outside the cylinder and one set through the cylinder. this allows the current to pass that starts the car once those contacts meet.
natethegreat88 in reply to mettaurloverOct 3, 2009. 12:55 AM
Oh ok i didn't know that there was a current going through there. I guess it makes sense that you can just hot wire a car.
mettaurlover in reply to natethegreat88Oct 3, 2009. 6:47 AM
yeah... the key's only a key and it's only a lock so you can't turn the car on with a wet popsicle stick...
natethegreat88 in reply to mettaurloverOct 3, 2009. 7:31 AM
Oh ok. Thanks.

hookup an oil burner ingnition transformer to the body of the car.

I've seen blinking LEDs that don't require any other components... they blink all on their own. Now, if I could find an infrared blinking LED, I could make a throwie out of it, and use one of the many "digital camera to night vision" hacks, and I would have an infrared strobe, just like the military. I could mark buildings, people, or vehicles with a strobe light that could only be seen with night vision... SWEET!

These would be good for spelunking.
Von Klaus in reply to Junkyard JohnJul 6, 2006. 7:39 AM
not really when you spelunk or cave (as it is called by cavers not spelunkers) you need 3 sourses of light, and they have to be big. like a head lamp and 2 flashlights. then after that use the LED but it really wont help that much. a good LED headlamp has about 8 or more. and yes i am a caver.
Junkyard John in reply to Von KlausDec 2, 2006. 3:27 PM
I was thinking more as a bread crumb trail back to the exit, not as a headlamp
viacin in reply to Junkyard JohnAug 24, 2008. 9:39 AM
lol ya, make like 500 of em and drop them behind you. better hope the light monster doesnt eat em though!
Junkyard John in reply to viacinAug 24, 2008. 10:03 AM
No, no, the light monster lurks in the sewers, not the caves!
mettaurlover in reply to Junkyard JohnJan 6, 2009. 12:25 AM
that WOULD work; and you could also make a grenade-like thing to scatter them all over the place as a sort of flare in case you got lost so people could find you!
DELTA3X9 in reply to Junkyard JohnJun 13, 2008. 3:52 AM
i was climbing around in some lava tubes a couple of weeks ago and sure wish i had these little "bread crumbs" .good one..

Big_Duke says: Oct 10, 2008. 5:03 PM
Is there any way to make a type of glue that would not damage fabrics? I was thinking of making one of these for an adapted game of "tag" for night play.
mettaurlover in reply to Big_DukeJan 6, 2009. 12:21 AM
you can use inside out duct tape
mettaurlover says: Jan 6, 2009. 12:21 AM
i use inside-out duct tape for the sticky; it sticks really well! also, you could use super glue on it and apply it a few hours efore you throw it; it will be permanant that way:)!
godfreyandthandi says: Dec 22, 2008. 4:00 AM
you know its kinda funny how many daeros get lured places by a throwie at night.. also when drunk people try to get them out of trees XD
worditsseb says: Feb 8, 2008. 7:08 PM

csmiler in reply to worditssebApr 17, 2008. 7:17 AM

We have this stuff in Australia called knead it. There's probably the same stuff all over the world. It's basically a 2 part epoxy paste that you knead together. It's fairly solid to begin with, then after 10 minutes or so it sets ROCK HARD. That would be awesome to use
