If I were to build it, I would use full range titanium drivers. The titanium drivers are 1" and they sound like 6"

It's funny how I had the exact same thought when I saw my first instructables!

Scattered all over the internet, you can find hundreds of creative uses for altoids tins. Good job :-)

Nice, but you would have to turn the volume way up unless you wanted to hold this next to your ear, and that could drain your battery. There are a lot of 'ibles describing essentially the same thing, but I think this one describes it the best. +1!

You could use boombox speakers and solder the plug onto it and use a wood box.

Nice! You can also get one of those mini ipod amps, take it apart, solder on a longer input wire, and put it in your case. Thats what I did; a lil louder than these...

This is pretty simular to some other ideas.

Altoids Amp - instructables
iPod Speakers - Boing Boing
Altoids Pocket Amplifier - DIY Live
10 Uses for the Altoids tin with an iPod - DIY Live

Although I guess yours isn't exactly the same as any of these, so good job.

nice idea this isnt much of a 'collaboration' as there is only one person doing it lol

Sorry, still not there, you made a nice speaker but no Amp at all. As for amplification there is no easier solution as the cmoy or at least one transistor anywhere. You can't compare an engine with a wheel. Anyway I like your wheels. ;)

OK, just curious. How is this amplified music? Other wise, well done!

I agree, the instructable is good, but the label might be a little misleading, as there is no amplification going on, just putting headphone speakers in a different orientation.
Jan 25, 2007. 8:44 PMBeanwaur says:
while being an interesting project it isn't actually an amplifier, merely a pair of headphones made into speakers. if you want a small amp to use with this i would reccomend searching for the cmoy amp design, they are fairly compacts and you could probably fit one in the case there with your speakers.

Never built a cmoy amp just ordered some of the parts I didn't have, thanks for the idea.

It's really pretty kool, but i presume it doesn't get very loud. id hook an amp to it! Oh, and it would look cooler if you did the cutting to the cover of the tin... not the nutrition facts! otherwise, pretty good idea!!!!!!!

I think this looks pretty cool.
