not neccesary to mark this line... but, I made it to give you the idea, of where is the right place to cut..
Cut, piece by piece all this around with scissors...please, do not try to cut at one all at the same time, because you can hurt yourself. This section of the can is harder than the rest of the can.
Also, don't forget to use eye glasses to protect your eyes...this is very important!!!
To cut this small pieces use scissors, if the edges are irregular, use the sissors or a sand paper to get a smooth borders.

Pliers have the same type of motion, but are used on the type of project you're doing here!
Other than that, it looks great! I wouldn't have thought of using the bottom of a can the way you have. Good job!! :D
I was little confused about that term, because I heard somebody use another word, but can't remember it...and is pliers!. Thanks so much, I will grab it for the future. ;D
I have been using this piece to paint assorted themes... I could try a locket, too.
