Vanish Small Objects Like a Street Magician

Vanish objects just like a street magician with this simple and cheap gimmick made from a magnet and an office badge retractor.

Step 1 Materials and Prep

(1) office badge retractor
(1) fairly small but very strong magnet
superglue, hot glue or epoxy
cut out 2 small pieces of felt or some sort of soft fabric slightly larger than your magnet
about 6-8 inches of fishing line
scissors or knife

The only problem with this trick is the tell-tale "zip" sound that the string gives away when it jerks back into the clip. Otherwise, great instructable. :)

this trick is bigger stage or street magic not some place thats silent and you can learn how to minalize the sound

Thanks for the feedback beckinacea, Yeah, you can't just let let it go like the elastic versions. Just finesse it back as far as you can and keep your fingers extended when you turn over your hand and you can reduce the sound greatly. It also depends on your retractor. I recently found that home depot makes a pencil retractor similar to these badge retractors that is soooo much quieter than the office retractors and makes almost no sound at all. Its over by the tape measures and whatnots. But thank you for the comments, I appreciate the interaction. -cheers
