Introduction: Amugurumi to Teach in Primary School

About: Being featured means we think you are awesome.

I'm a Maths teacher in primary school and I love to use amigurumi to teach. :) These are the 6 characters I've invented and crocheted for my class.

I know I can't win in the Amigurumi contest because I live in Italy, but I want to enter just because I like to take part in it and I like to have my works be listed with similar ones.

I love to do amigurumi, I'm kind addicted.

I use these amigurumi to teach Maths, and other subjects.

"Tailchaser goes to the markets and buys 4 red apples and 5 yellow apples. How many apple he buys?"
This is more interesting, for my pupils, than if I wrote it with "mother", "uncle" or "Miss white".

Step 1: Basic Shape: Feet & Legs

I won't tell you the colours in this pattern, because you should use what you need.

sc = single crochet
inc = increasing sc

*1 dec 3 sc** for 6 times (24)
Stuff.
*1 dec 2 sc** for 6 times (18)
*1 dec 1 sc** for 6 times (12)
6 dec (6)

You'll have a little hole that will be sewed over the hole on the top of the body.

Step 5: Personalize Them

Embroid the vertical pupils on the cat eyes, the nose and the mouth. You can embroid the pink in the ears or you can crochet with pink yarn when you're making them, just change colour when you crochet the "sc" (the ones between the inc) on one side only.

Sew the legs in front of the body if you want the amigurumi to stay sit down; under the body if you want them to stand up.

I've made bigger foot, muzzle and ears for Lupo Lupone (the wolf); trumpet-like ears for Pino:

Ears (Pino the little Alien)
in a magic ring:
4 sc (4)
work evenly 4 sc for 3 rounds;
4 inc (8)
*1 inc 1 sc** for 4 times (12);
*1 inc 2 sc** for 4 times (16).
Fasten off and weave in tails.

Eyes (Pino & Lupo Lupone):
in a magic ring:
6 sc (6)
6 inc (12)
Fasten off and embroid the reflection woth white.

Clothes:
Use the same pattern of the parts of the body, just use a bigger crochet and/or bigger yarn (or do one more "inc" round).

For Roofshadow, I made a partially sewed dress, but I've changed it recently with a totally crocheted green dress.
