Animate your own photo for MySpace

Animate your own photo for MySpace
You can create a small video animation of your face or an animated gif to use as an avatar in your blog, chat or e-mail signature. Many users insert their animated avatars in their myspace profile or send it as a surprise e-card.

The latest facial animation software is designed to recreate 3D models from full front face portraits with closed mouths and a relaxed expression. It is very sensitive to anomalies of digital pictures like color (over-exposed areas) or shape (open mouth, side views).

You only need a digital picture of your face to create a video animation with sound. An online service, http://www.image-me.com will do the rest for you.

The red crosses on the examples below show wrong pictures and the green ticked ones, the right photos to animate.

Pose naturally and take a front view photo of your face
Use a digital camera or camera phone to take your portrait.

  • Clear your forehead, face and neck from hair, your hands, caps, coverings, etc. If you wear glasses, make sure they aren't dark or with reflecting shinings
  • Look at the camera at a distance of at least two meters or six feet looking straight into it
  • Show a relaxed expression and your mouth closed face animation
  • Show your entire face and both eyes and ear lobes with no hard shadows

Remember, this doesn't have to be just for MySpace. I'd use this for my LiveJournal. Some might go for Facebook, or something else.

OK, nice to learn about new proggies and services on the net, but it seems like you just pasted the instructions from their site. Good staart, maybe next time add in some ways to go about a more complex animation.
