AoneD Remote Controlled Sailing Yacht

Here is my entry, "The Oracle" I love this boat. The remote controlled sailboat I built.  I grew up sailing real yachts and this became a hobby, The  whole family sails, we belong to a RC Yacht club that holds regular races once a month. This is a class I Designed and built. It is called  the AoneD RC Yacht. (America One Design) I had a lot of fun building this yacht. It is completely wind powered, there is no engine, it is only powered by winches, servos, and wind. Oh, and batteries for the remote of course.

It would be cool if you posted a proper step-by-step Instructable of how to build one...

A proper step by step would take a book as this was built completely from scratch, I first designed the yacht, then had to create a mold to the proper specs. After fine tuning it for a month and several that were not exactly what I wanted. I ended up with these Specifications:
Length: 60.75 in.
Width: 11 in.
Weight: 17 lbs
Mast height: 80 in. 1/2 in. Dia.
Boom Length: 20 in.

The Yacht itself was a project, then their are the sails, another book, on exact specs. Then the keel is made from Lead in another mold I made. Then the electronics, the boom, there is so much that went into the building of this boat that it would be impossible to tell everything here on this forum. Sorry, but maybe one day I will write that book.

I totally understand what you're saying. Sounds like you did an exceptional job on making your boat and absolutely understand that documenting it can take time.

Even if you just walked people through the basic steps of each phase I think it would be useful in a step by step format to be inspirational to the community. In any case, I think your project is really great and it looks like you've got a great rc boat on your hands.

There is a RC yacht club in San Antonio. They have regattas at least once a month and fun sails on Wednesdays (I think). They are mostly older Hobie cat sailors.

Ahh thanks, I live in Ca. and I do belong to the Sacramento Model Yacht Club, we have lot's of fun. A lot of the sailors are former yachtsmen who now do RC. I have built several different boats, a US One Meter, a couple of Seawinds, and my design, the America One Design (AoneD) They are a lot of work, and a lot of fun. Thanks for the information...
