Introduction: Apple Pie

Who doesn’t love a nice apple pie? Take a look on how I try to make it a little easier by using store bought crust.
  • 5-6 cups of peeled and thinly sliced apples
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon melted butter
  • 2 pre made pie crust
To Garnish melt a tablespoon of butter then brush the butter on the top of the pie crust and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Also serve some good vanilla ice cream to go along with the pie.
Pre Heat oven to 350 degrees
Start with peeling and thinly cutting the apples. I like to use a tart crisp apple because we will add lots of sugar to them. After the apple are cut place them in a large mixing bowl.
Once the apples are in a mixing bowl add the sugars, flour, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the mixing bowl. Start stirring everything together and make sure the apples are well coated and set aside.
Take both of the pre made pie crusts and place one in a pie dish (glass or metal) Make sure the pie crust is evenly placed in the dish. Cut any excess pie crust off. Once the pie crust is ready take the apple mixture and place it over the pie crust in the dish. Make sure to even out the apple filling.
Take the other pre made pie crust and lay it out on a smooth surface. then take a cookie cutter and start to cut out designs. You could also cut thick strips and lay it over the top. Once this is done, place the pie on a baking sheet and shove it in the oven for about an hour.
Just before the pie is done cooking, take out 5-10 minutes prior and brush a tablespoon of melted butter on the pie crust topping. Then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the pie crust and let it cook for 5-10 more minutes or until brown.
After one hour take the pie out of the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dish up the pie and serve with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
