Introduction: Arduino: Reuse a Laptop Fan
Welcome to my -Reuse- Instructable Series.
In This Instructable We Will Be Using An Old Laptop Fan To Get Rid Of Soldering Smoke.
You Will Need:
- Old Compaq NX9010
- Screwdriver
- Arduino Nano
- Male to Male Jumper Wire
- USB A/B Cable (Old Printer Cable)
- Solder less Breadboard
- Soldering Iron
Step 1: Compaq NX9010 Teardown

This Should Take You 30-60 Minutes.
When Done Disconnect The Fans From The PC
Because We Need It For The Tutorial
Step 2: Connecting the Fan to the Arduino!
Put Your Arduino On The Breadboard
Left Side On B and Right Side On F.
Connect One Jumper Wire To 5V then connect the other end to the red wire on the BIG FAN!
Connect another Jumper Wire to GND then connect the other end to Black/Blue on the BIG FAN!
Connect One Jumper Wire To 5V then connect the other end to the red wire on the SMALL FAN!
Connect another Jumper Wire to GND then connect the other end to Black/Blue on the SMALL FAN!
Step 3: Use for Soldering
Lean The Fans Against Something Then You Can Use For Soldering!
Hook The Arduino Up To 5V Power Supply And Use The USB A/B Cable For This.
