In this instructable we make a DIY armrest to mount on your table.
- 6 mm MDF
- 20 mm flexible foam
- Flexible fabric (spandex)
- Bolts and nuts
- L profiles
Step 1: Lasercutting
In the 2 pdf files you'Il find the exact drawings you need for the lasscercutter. Out of these you can lasercut the parts you see in the photo above.
Step 2: Assembling
Assemble the upper parts of the armrest. Make sure that you do this in the right way.
First place the two big plates on top of each other. You can glue these two parts togehter but this isn't necesarry. Then assemble the ribs onto the plates.
Step 3: Assembling
Assemble the 2 slides on the assembly. Do this by using the L profiles and bolts and nuts.
Step 4: Assembling
First disassemble the clamp. After this you can use most parts of the clamp for the armrest.
Assemble the parts as shown in the photo.
Step 5: Assembling
Assemble the subassembly from step 4 to the assembly. Do this with L profiles.
Step 6: Cutting & Gluing
Cut the rough shape of the armrest out of the flexible 20 mm foam. Do this with a little extra.
After this you can easily glue the foam on to the assembly.
To finish you glue the edges on to the assembly.
Step 7: Cutting & Stapling
Cut the rough shape of the armrest out of the flexible fabric. Do this with a little extra.
After this you can staple the fabric onto the underside of the assembly.
After this you can cut the loose fabric away.
Step 8: Finished
You can now use your armrest!
