About: You also have many workers: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and people skilled in every kind of work in gold, silver, bronze and iron- beyond number. Now begin the work, and may the LORD be with you. 1Croni…

This December me and my finance are getting married.  Since I am a Soldier we decided to make it Army themed.
This instructable will show how to turn a plain guest book into an Army themed guest book.

Step 1: Materials Needed.

To complete this project we used approximenlty a two foot by two foot square of material from -a used ACU (Army Combat Uniform). They only have a 6 month wear out date so we have plenty of them
-Guest book from Hobby Lobby.  (it was on sale for 1/2 off)
-ACU "hook and loop" fastener kit.
-Craft Glue
-Scissors
-extra name tape

Step 2: Pattern

ACU's are expensive about $70 (USD) a set , top and bottom.  So in order to maximize our resources we decided to make a pattern with a sheet of newspaper, covering the book like a school text book.
Then we traced the newspaper onto the ACU fabric to get a near precise fit.

Step 3: Assemble and Trim

After we cut out the template we assembled the book with the fabric and cut it out to make it fit.  The fabric has a little stretch to it and in the corners we cut sections out so the fabric will lay flatter.

Step 4: Glue!

Starting with one side, spread the glue evenly across the cover and thinly.  Too much glue will cause it to seep out through the fabric.
Add the fabric and pull tightly and flatten.  Small wrinkles can be lifted and smoothed back out.
Any excess material can be trimmed off with sharp scissors.
We left a seam across the front to give it that authentic Army look.

Step 5: Accessorize!

On the real thing, patches, name tapes and rank is attached with hook and loop fasteners.
I took a piece from a hook and look fastener kit and trimmed it to fit an extra name tape.  Then I glued it on the front.
You can do this also with unit patches, rank, flags and other accessories.

Step 6: Finished.

Let the glue dry overnight before you try to use it.
Now you have a cool looking ACU* covered guest book.

*I know the correct nomenclature for the pattern is Universal Camouflage Pattern. B
