This low tech solution
allows you to turn on or off your lights with just a pull of a string
you could just put in another switch next to your bed but this is i think cooler
And a conversation starter

Materials

String
Knex piece
Ducttape
rubber band
caribeaner clip
wall hooks

Step 1: Automated Lighswitch

put a caribeaner clip over the switch then duct tape the knex piece to the switch so it looks like this

attach a string to each end
     A. the bottom string goes to the weight, which is rubberbands, this keeps the light off . Tie the string to the rubberbands then tie the rubberbands to someplace make sure it is tight and keeps the light off

You might be working in the dark for a while sorry

     B. the other end goes to wherever u want it to go

Step 2: Automated Light Switch

Loop the string around corners with the hooks till you get it where you want it to be

Step 3: Automated Light Switch

To turn the light on pull on the string and tie it to something
to turn it off let go of the string and the rubberbands will pull the switch down and off

it might take some adjusting with the right length and right weight but just keep trying
mine works great  and i use it everyday now.
Yes, it is rather cleaver, however for us guys who have wives putting something like that in our living room or bedroom might get us in to a heap of trouble. I would rather find something a little more aesthetically correct. Aesthetics are some kind of philosophy dealing with how things are pretty and nice. This is Important to many wives. It is the men who can create functional devices that can be practical and built out of items found in the corner of our shops, bedrooms, back yards, junk yards or our local dump. We don't have the need for devices to always be pretty as long as they work well enough to get the job done without killing any stray pets or people who touch things they are suppose to leave alone. :-) Cute idea! Cheers!
Try my simple sensor version, after the string breaks!<br> <br> --------------------------------------------------------<br> &quot;May the good belong to all the people in the world.<br> May the rulers go by the path of justice.<br> May the best of men and their source always prove to be a blessing.<br> May all the world rejoice in happiness.<br> May rain come in time and plentifulness be on Earth.<br> May this world be free from suffering and the noble ones be free from fears&quot;<br> ---- Vedic blessing
Good idea.
I did something similar when I was a kid, but i drilled a hole through the light switch and ran fishing line through eye hooks to my bed. great job!
I love your low-tech solution!
