Introduction: Awesome Duct Tape Wallet

Picture of Awesome Duct Tape Wallet

Note- This is my first actual instructable so don't be too harsh

Also after i make it neat and add decoration i will add the new pictures

This is a wallet I made for myself based off of one i previously made. It has 1 main pocket, 1 pocket for an ID card and 6 pockets for normal cards and 1 secret pocket for anything that wouldn't fit in the card pocket.

also all measurements do not have to be perfect.

If you like it rate it and comment. if you make it post pictures.

Step 1: Gather Materials

Duct Tape (any color you want)
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Ziploc Bag
Tin Foil or Paper
Ruler
Surface to Cut on
Marker or Pen

Step 2: Making the Outside of the Wallet

Picture of Making the Outside of the Wallet

First cut out a piece of tin foil or paper 8 6/8 inches by 3 5/8 inches

Then Cover Both Sides With Duct Tape and put this piece to the side

Step 3: Making the Inner Piece

Picture of Making the Inner Piece

This is the inner piece that will combine with the outside piece to form the main pocket.

This step is the same as the first step except the measurements are different.

First Cut Foil or Paper in a rectangle with the dimensions 8 5/8 inches by 3 1/2 inches

Step 4: Making the Card Pockets

Picture of Making the Card Pockets

This step will show how to make the pieces that will form the card pockets.

First cut two - 4inches by 3 1/2 inches pieces of foil or paper then cover with duct tape.

Then cut six - 1 7/8inches by 3 6/8 inches of foil or paper then cover in tape.

Step 5: Making the ID Pocket , Part 1

Picture of Making the ID Pocket , Part 1

First cut out a piece of foil or paper 6 3/8 inches by 3 1/2 inches.

Lay this so the long way is horizontal.

Then fold it 3 6/8 inches from the right side to form a right angle

after this apply duct tape only to the smaller side

Step 6: Making the ID Pocket , Part 2

Picture of Making the ID Pocket , Part 2

For this step you are going to need the Ziploc bag.

First Place your ID Card into the bottom right corner of the Ziploc bag (picture 2)

Second trace around the left and top edges of your card but leave a good amount(picture 3)

Third Cut just inside of the line you drew(picture 4)

Fourth Trim the bag so it fits on the piece you made in the previous step(picture 5 and 6)

Fifth trace a small semi-circle and cut it out so you can remove your card with ease(picture 7)

Sixth now tape this onto the piece that you made in step 5(look at picture 6 again)

Step 7: Making the ID Pocket , Part 3

Picture of Making the ID Pocket , Part 3

Now you are going to need one of the 4 inch by 3 1/2 inch pieces and the piece you finished in the last step.

First lay the piece with the clear pocket face down

Then take the other piece and lay it on top of it(see picture 2)

Tape the two pieces together(see picture 2 again)

Step 8: Putting It All Together. Part 1:The Main Pocket

Picture of Putting It All Together. Part 1:The Main Pocket

Get The Two Pieces from step 2 and 3

Lay them on top of each other with the bigger one on the bottom(see picture)

Then Tape them together on the left side the bottom and the right side(see picture again)

Step 9: Putting It All Together. Part 2:The Card Pockets

Picture of Putting It All Together. Part 2:The Card Pockets

Now go get all those smaller pieces we made before and the ID Pocket

First Lay the 4 inch by 3 1/2 inch piece on the left side and the ID pocket on the right side(picture 1& 2)

Second tape these pieces down(picture 1 again)

Third take the little pocket pieces and get a piece of tape bigger than it. then take the pocket piece and place it in the middle of the tape. then tape it over the 4 inch by 3 1/2 inch piece and the ID Piece (see pictures 3,4,5 and 6)

Now you're done

Step 10: Make It Neat and Decorate

Picture of Make It Neat and Decorate

Now you are done.

If it is messy go over the messy places with tape to give it a neater look.

Then you can go ahead and decorate it with multiple colors of duct tape or stickers or anything else you can think of.

I made a camo one and its sweet

alindley (author)2012-04-26

I made one of these previously, and i am considering making another one with some minor adjustments. i have found that cards can often fall down insode the pockets, or get stuck on tape at the bottom of the pocket depending on whether you follow picture 3 (as i did with some) or whether you overlap a bit at the bottom (as i did with others). i would suggest possibly another bit of tape at the bottom folded so that the waxy side is facing "inwards", towrds where the cards will sit.

ColleenG (author)2011-02-11

I've used two peices of clear packaging tape place against each other to for a clear "cover, just do that twice and you've got this!

alindley (author)ColleenG2012-04-26

another way is to use a piece of OHP or similar plastic, thats what i'm planning on doing (although using tape makes it a "proper" tape wallet lol)

YellowBlu Co. (author)2011-12-19

do u have to use tin foil or paper? why do u use it?

alindley (author)YellowBlu Co.2012-04-26

it just allows you to get the right size peices without having to worry about the duct tape sticking to everything while you measure it

Would you be able to send me instructions on making it two colored? if so email: dkoberst@yahoo.com or if anyone is able to do that. Please respond or tell me how

just use different duct tape for the different parts, i.e. use a different color for the credit card slots

troyqaz (author)2009-05-05

This is taking a long time.

janhunter (author)2009-07-10

i dont understand!

jamesdude (author)janhunter2010-05-23

i dont either

jagnat4000 (author)2010-03-14

should I cover the back as well?

Mongo Of Fire (author)2009-05-31

why not just make two outer ones? why does one have to be smaller?

jagnat4000 (author)Mongo Of Fire2010-03-13

so that the outer one folds over the inner one neatly without overlapping at the edges.

iSpazz2 (author)2009-12-27
