Use the cube to slow, stop, or reverse time, or even turn ordinary technology into transformers. Your choice.

It looks the best in the dark.

It would be cool if you could get the LED to flicker.
Oct 29, 2010. 2:32 AMmaniacse says:
Simple blinking or switching of two LEDs (or one dual color LED) can be realized by astable flip flop with transistors (see image) or from integrated flip flop like NE555. (images from google, 1st is 100% working)
Aug 24, 2010. 5:10 PMserrano8246 says:
if you get the LED module unit it does, iv only seen them in red flickering light but you could switch out the LED and rewire/solder it in.

thank.

how would i go about making the LED pulse inside the cube?
Jun 10, 2010. 3:40 PMtechnoguy94 says:
I think you can get LEDs that have a pulsing circuit inside them, i.e. it looks like a normal LED, but when you apply power to it, it turns on and flickers. I have an LED tea light I got somewhere with one in it.
Feb 28, 2010. 7:04 PMchafman says:
There's an easier solution to the motor one (and maybe, cheaper) but you have to know some electronic basics (just reading diagrams and perhaps soldering). You have to build a timer circuit with a 555 IC, a couple of resistors and capacitors. You can find the schematics almost everywhere in the web. Good luck!
Feb 27, 2010. 7:07 AMHardCoreHacker says:
Get a motor and connect a wire to the end of its hand. If you did it right, the current moving the motor, will go threw the wire and when the wire gets in contact w/ a battery, flash. More complicated and probably not exactly what you were wanting but its the basic idea

Just wondering..where did you buy your switch? i was looking for an push on/push off one
May 20, 2010. 5:35 PMbudhaztm says:
you can get them at some radio-shacks and if not there i dont know ,because all we have is a radio shack in our little town

What are the deminsions of the cube???
Nov 16, 2009. 10:23 PMKryptonite says:
Looks 2 inches by 2 inches to me.
Dec 17, 2009. 1:13 PMjobergy says:
well technically you could make it however big you want.... but with the lights he has i would not go over 5 X 5
Dec 17, 2009. 9:07 PMKryptonite says:
You could make it how ever big you want, but you would need more lights; and batteries.
Dec 18, 2009. 8:46 PMjobergy says:
a cool idea is to paint the metal with rustoleum metal effects in an aerosal can. i think it wuld look cool with the hammered copper one, it makes it look ancient and rustic kinda... OH! make a rubix cube out of several of these! that wuld be crazy!
Dec 20, 2009. 1:35 AMKryptonite says:
That would look really cool, wouldn't that be a wonderful surprise for a Rubik's Cube enthusiast to open up on Christmas day?
Dec 20, 2009. 2:25 PMjobergy says:
hellz yes! one of my friends has a Scar Face 5 by 5 Rubiks cube!!! its pretty epic, he got it from spencers lol...browsing through instructables i have found a couple rubiks cube instructables to make your own... so if some one has the knowledge and the will to put these 2 instructables together im very sure its do-able. might have some kinks you run into ofcourse, but what DYI enthusiast doesnt lol
Dec 21, 2009. 12:41 AMKryptonite says:
That'd be a little difficult to make but with some planning I imagine it would turn out brilliant.
Dec 9, 2009. 8:26 PMmuruganantham says:
how do you turn them off
Dec 10, 2009. 9:26 PMGlockenator says:
the switch is on the outside
Jun 8, 2009. 4:05 PMBigwar13 says:
how do you turn them off
Nov 16, 2009. 10:23 PMKryptonite says:
The same way you turn them on; with the switch.
Aug 15, 2009. 5:21 PMChromatica says:
the switch
May 10, 2010. 4:53 PMValeil says:
a placebo to replace the pain of not knowing how to turn them off ;3

 You made a funny.
May 14, 2011. 10:03 PMcwix09 says:
*like*
Jul 10, 2010. 5:33 PMValeil says:
Thank you.
Oct 20, 2009. 1:46 PMTCInc says:
For those that finished, how did you get past step 3? In what order did you solder the LED , resistor,  and switch together?
Oct 29, 2009. 4:35 AMM4industries says:
Positive side of battery to resistor (polarity doesnt matter) other lead of resistor to the led's negative, led's positive goes to switch and switch to negative of battery.
Nov 7, 2009. 4:29 PMthoraxe says:
shouldn't it be positive terminal>resistor>switch>positive of led>negative terminal?
Nov 16, 2009. 10:20 PMKryptonite says:
The switch and resistor don't mind where they go, they're just happy to keep the circuit working.
Nov 8, 2009. 11:49 AMM4industries says:
The switch can go wherever, It merely opens the circuit.
Nov 13, 2009. 4:53 PMchristian2927 says:
do you get the switch at radio shack too
Nov 15, 2009. 3:23 PMiluvmusic says:
i think so i was there and they had swiches
May 28, 2009. 5:40 PMArtanus says:
I TOTALLY want to make one of these, but I have no idea where to buy the electric parts. Could you give me any advice on where to buy the battery, the button, and the LED?
Nov 1, 2009. 6:53 PMTFElite says:
Radioshack my friend. They have everything but the hot glue gun and Plexiglass. For those, go to Home Depot or Lowe's. All in all, it come out to less than 10 bucks depending on where you get your supplies from.
