About: I'm Mario Caicedo Langer (M.C. for short), a Colombian STEAM educator living in Azerbaijan, BSc in Naval Sciences and former Navy officer. I am a CAD and 3D Printing enthusiast and an artist specialized in jun…

Last week I found a metallic housing from a lamp. Lucky of me, it has two holes. First thing I thought? The "*Batteries Not Included" movie! (Big surprise...)

So, for the umpteenth time, lets make a BNI inspired junkbot. It's easy, it's fast and it's an original and useful gift for Christmas. It lights its eyes, has a magnet in its antenna for keep clips and you can keep memos in its tweezers.

Step 1: Materials

You will need the following stuff:

1 metallic housing from a lamp (If you don't find any, try with a plastic or metallic saucepan and make two holes for the eyes)
2 Roll-on deodorant bottles (you will need de cap, the ball and the ball mounting)
1 PC screen base that fits by pressure into the metallic housing
2 Iron hinges
4 iron pieces for picture frame
4 small iron angles
2 alligator clips
2 big LEDs
2 resistors 220 ohm (red red brown gold) (optional)
1 switch
1 AA Battery box
2 AA Batteries
1 Magnet
1 sprayer (you can find it in a deodorant or in a can of spray paint)
1 Plastic caster
Wire
screws and nuts
tin soldering

TOOLS
Dremel Rotary Tool
tweezers
screwdivers
scalpel
pliers
Wire cutters
Screwdriver kit
Soldering Iron

And don't forget:

1. If you don't have it, replace it!
2. Use protective equipment (dust mask and goggles)
3. Beware of drilled and soldered hot surfaces
4. Work in a good ventilated area.
5. Always have junk in stock
6. Enjoy!

Step 2: Making the Legs

Make the legs in the order shown in the pictures. You will need the hinges, the iron pieces, the iron angles, nuts and bolts. That's the easy part.

Step 3: Lower Body

Attach the legs to the PC screen base.

Disarm the caster and use the wheels for the "shoulders". Drill the center of the wheels.

Attach the wheels using long screws, and fasten with a bolt. Cut the screw, and insert a tweezer on the end. Make the two arms. Use epoxic for fixing the tweezer to the screw.

Step 4: Electronics

This is the electric circuit. Keep it in mind, because you will need it in the next steps.

Step 5: Eyes

Insert the deodorant caps in the head (metallic housing) holes and glue the with epoxic. Drill holes in the center of the eyes.

Take the balls (the deodorant ones ;-) and open two holes big enough for fitting the LEDs. Insert the balls in the mountings, and fix them to the caps using screws.

Solder the resistors and the wires following the previous circuit.

When you finish, insert a long screw in the center of the head.

Step 6: Finishing

Put the AA battery box and the swith in the lower body and finish the circuit.

Insert the sprayer on the top of the head screw and insert the magnet inside the sprayer. Fix with epoxic.

Fit the lower body into the head and... YOUR JUNKBOT IS READY!!! :-)
