Step 3 The gun

With this gun you can make your own design or copy mine.

Cut all of your pvc out and dry fit before gluing together with pvc cement.
The butt of the gun is attached with a long bolt with rubber washers inside of the drain to prevent air leaks. And a bondo spacer to match the parts shapes together.

I attached the blow gun using plumbers tape.

I will be adding to the actual construction process soon!

Does anyone have any ideas on running this off a CO2 tank, Making it more portable.I have no idea on how to regulate the flow? pressure, any help would be great.

No, you need a high CFPS rate that only a big air compressor tank can accommodate.

Do you mean running it on something like a co2 bike tire inflator? Because I had that EXACT same idea. I'm guessing it would work pretty well, but I have never tried it.

I was thinking something slightly larger (Paintball tank) but yeah, annything light and portable, how fast do you think the flow is on a tire inflator, my guess is pretty low, but it should work.

This interesting. I am currently doing a project, and this is alot of help. I'm trying to use this same idea, but have a revolving quad barrell system. I think I am going to try to use one air compressor, and 4 vortex blocks, as I have a big air compressor, but I'm not sure if its possible with the vortex block being upside down at some point, and the big pvc drain tap. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Im a bit confused. You are going to use a revolving set of four barrels and four v-blocks? if the barrel is revolving, how are you going to time the line up of each barrel to a v-block and the bbs not jam up? With the steady psi needed, you wont be able to controll when the bbs come out. As for the v-block, its doesnt have to be any specific shape, as long as there is an inlet, outlet, and a way for the bbs to enter the vortex. Before I built my 1st v-block, I made a mock one to demonstrate the theory. I used a scrap piece of a 2x4, drilled a 1 inch hole appx 1 inch deep with a forester bit ( so the hole was flat on bottom) and drilled the inlet and outlet holes in tangent and at right angles to each other. Then I put 5-8 bbs in the hole, clamped a piece of plexi over the hole and stuck a blowgun in the inlet hole. What you will see is the bbs spinning around the inside diameter of the 1 inch hole (hence the "vortex") and as soon as a bb lines up with the outlet hole, it escapes at a velocity corresponding with the psi applied and the snugness of the outlet hole and the bb coming out. I reccomend testing this outside of course and at a low pressure. This should give you a really good idea of the internal physical dynamics in progress with out the big build. Actually, what I think I'm going to try to do is drop the revolving barel idea. I'm going to made the vortex a little bigger, and drill 4 holes for 4 barrels into the vortex. I have a powerful air compressor, so it should be fine. You think this will work?

Glad you are dropping the revolving barel idea, though it would look fricken awesome. As for the 4 holes in the vortex block, It might work, but you will be losing a lot of air and pressure. Think of it this way... In the split second that a bb enters the outlet, it causes the internal pressure to build a bit (resistance), thus producing more force propelling the bb. With 4 holes, even if 3 bbs are expelled at the same instant; the 4th one is just spewing air and reducing the power behind the other 3. Sorry to sound like a bummer on your ideas, it would make an awesome gun, but it would take alot of very precise engineering and tight tolerences to make it work perfectly. Even with my single barrel, it can jam, the v-block wears out, and the bbs in the vortex are extremly chaotic and impossible to predict when they will come out. Im blabbin, so ill stop.
