Introduction: BBQ Beer Brats

About: I'm an Instructables success story! After relying on the site to DIY my way through art school, I was able to join the Instructables Design Studio in 2012. It's the best! Whe...

I was learning how to use the new Instructables Android App, and decided to try it out at a friends cookout this week.

I made one of my all time favorite BBQ treats, Beer Brats.

Step 1: Heat Up Your Beer!

For this recipe, you are going to want to use cheap beer. I've tried with fancy beers, and it's just not as good.

Crack a beer into a sauce pan over medium heat, and heat it until it is simmering.

Step 2: Simmer in Beer

Reduce the heat, and add your sausages. Cook for about 8 minutes.

Step 3: Drain From Beer

Drain your sausages with a colander over the sink, then move them to the grill.

Step 4: BBQ the Brats!

Cook the Brats over medium heat until they are the desired amount of brown. Serve on a toasted bun with some fancy mustard. YUM!!

This is the only way I cook brats. I throw a sliced onion and a bunch of cloves of garlic in the beer with the brats. Once I take the brats out to grill them, I saute the onions and garlic until the brats are done, and then serve everything together. AMAZING!!!!

I return the brats to the beer, so they remain hot for later consumption.

a little, but you can keep them hot for hours.

ive found that the beer makes a awesome bbq sauce for the brats just keep it in the pan and cook it down to basically nothing and add your bbq seasonings and stuff to make your sauce, great on the brats with some grilled onion, and now im hungry after reading you ible by the way thanks lol

Have you tried throwing the wurst away and drinking the beer?
