Introduction: Back to the Future Desk Calendar

I was looking for a project to publish to celebrate Back to the Future Day. Nothing jumped out at me until I thought about making a desk calendar. Then I thought I'll make a Back to the Future themed desk calendar here is what I came up with.

Step 1: Find Materials

For this project I used

1 Sheet red paper

1 Sheet white paper

Small chunk of cardboard

Scissors

Sharpie

Pen

Ruler or straightedge

Colored pencils

Hobby knife

Glue

Step 2: Begin

Following along with the pictures I first drew an idea. next I took a piece of cardboard and marked 1 1/4" and made lines picture 3. Next I marked the spot for the month column 1" wide and about/2" tall. After that I cut the middle rectangle pic 5. Moving on I measured 1/2" over then I marked the spot for the day I made it a 1/2" square. once I made 3 I again cut the middle out. Last I measured 1/2" over again drew the year spot 1" wide and 1/2" tall. Cut the middle one out. To finish this step cut out the cardboard leaving about a 1/2" gap all the way around. Now it should look like the last picture.

Step 3: Adding the Front

I didn't have gray paper so I used a pencil to shade the paper I cut the paper to cover the cardboard. glue it down and let dry then flip it over. now those holes you cut earlier are covered. Cut the paper so the holes are open again.

Step 4: Details

I used red paper to make the labels to match the original, sort of. The colors are different a little but the concept is the same. I used the original dates except the present date mark is open. The first column says month on the red paper the second says day and the third says year. I also used a sharpie to write the dates. I used 3 Popsicle sticks the first has the month written on it as shown. The second has the day. 1-31 the third has the year I just put 2015 but You can add 2016 2017 or so on. On the back I glued Strips of paper on 2 sides of each hole(right and left if the calendar is up and down) leaving enough room to allow the Popsicle stick to fit so it can move up and down.

Step 5: Finished
