This is a Quick and Easy Pasta Dish for hungry Backpackers after a long day of Hiking.
Step 1: Ingredients:
1 Package of Instant Ramen
1 Pouch of Albacore Tuna / Sundried Tomatoes & Olive Oil
¼ Cup Pine Nuts
1 Tbls Parmesan Cheese
1/8 Teaspoon Fennel seeds
Salt, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, and dried Italian Season to taste
Step 2: Preparation:
Remove Ramen and cut in half (according to Direction this is one portion) and discard season packet. Place Ramen half in sandwich Ziploc bag. Combine other dry ingredients in another container for transportation.
Step 3: Cooking:
Bring water to Boil then remove from heat. Add Ramen to water and let set for 3 Min or until soft (Ramen is fully Cooked before it is packaged for sell so no boiling of the noodles is necessary). After 3 Min or noodles are at the desired softness pour almost all the water out (leave enough to absorb the dry ingredients about a table spoon amount). Mix in the Dry ingredients and Tuna thoroughly.
Step 4: Recipe Highlights:
This recipe can be made for around $3.00 and has approximately 380 Calories, 20g of protein, and low sodium content due to the removal of the Ramen seasoning packet. It also reduces the amount of fuel needed will backpacking as you only need to bring the water to a boil and not boil the noodles for an extended time.
