Introduction: Bacon Bark

About: I don't really know what kinda girl I am, I only know i'm not the type of girl you think I am. So take me as I am or watch me as I go. ツ I believe we can change the world one person, idea, and smile at a ti…

This instructable is going to show you how to make, what I like to call the 'Triple Treat' , peanut butter bacon bark.  It has some of the best things the culinary world has to offer like peanut butter, chocolate, and bacon, and is super easy to make.

I have been making this since I went to the OC fair 3 years ago, and had me some really yummy chocolate covered bacon. I decided then I would make my own version, which I'm sharing here.

* Note I halved the recipe for the purpose of this demonstration.
And remember to wash your hands before starting any cooking or baking. =]

Thanks for all the votes, guys. =]

Step 1: Gather Ingredients

First off you'll need to gather all 3 of your ingredients, about 6 or 7 pieces of bacon, 1/3 cup of peanut butter, and 8 ounces of chocolate.

*If you somehow don't like peanut butter (Gasp!) or you have an allergy, you could most certainly leave this out. But being how it makes tons of stuff better I don't know why you'd want to.

Step 2: Get Your Materials

Next get all your materials.

You'll need a baking sheet, some parchment paper, a spatula, fry pan, and a double boiler or some ovenware placed over a simmering pot.

Step 3: Cook Bacon

Now on to the bark.

Start off with cooking your bacon to a crisp, so it has time to cool and drain. I like to flip it a few times to ensure even cooking.

*I use the no chemical, or nitrates added kind, it's just better and you don't have to feel so guilty about eating it.

Step 4: Melt Chocolate

Let's move on to melting the chocolate, by setting up your double boiler or using some ovenware as I have.

If your using ovenware you need to find a pot small enough for your dish to sit on top of, fill it up about half way and bring it a boil then turn low to simmer.

Break up your chocolate and add it to the dish, stir still creamy and smooth, turn off burner then swirl in the peanut butter.

* Make sure you wash your spatula first, as we don't want any cross contamination.

Step 5: Make Bark

To make the bark you'll need to line the baking sheet with paper, then pour 3/4 of the chocolate mix down and give it a little shake to smooth/flatten it out.

Now crumble the bacon all over the chocolate and pour the remainder of mix on top, lightly spreading with spatula.

*It's at this point you should probably crumble the second half of that last piece of bacon on top for an extra finished look. I so would have except I had a brain fart and ate it, =[ but that's ok because it was so delicious.

Step 6: Refrigerate

Now for the hard part, waiting for it to harden. LoL Go stick it in your fridge and come back about an hour later.

Step 7: Break Apart

Ok, it's been an hour so take your bark and break it into several pieces, then enjoy the yumminess.

Store any leftover (Ya Right) in an airtight container in the fridge, to keep fresh.

*This bark recipe ends up around 600 Calories. I assure you it's well worth it, just don't eat it all in one sitting.
