Picture of Bagel Sandwich
The bagel. It is a wonderful food. It can be eaten at any time of day. Make a toasted bagel with butter for breakfast. Make this sandwich for lunch, and make mini pizza bagels for dinner. You can even make bagel chips to eat as snacks. This is a great lunch that doesn't take too long to make, and is very rewarding at the end.

Step 1: Ingredients

Picture of Ingredients
To make your delicious bagel sandwich, you will need these ingredients:
  • Bagel, any kind
  • Your favorite deli meat (I used barbecue chicken from Stop & Shop)
  • Your favorite cheese (I used provolone)
  • Jumbo romaine hearts
  • Butter (salted or unsalted, margarine, whatever butter-like substance you usually put on you bagel)
Plus these tools:
  • Knife
  • Tin Foil

Step 2: (Optional) Thaw your bagel

For some unknown reason, I tend to buy a lot of bagels at a time. I don't eat them all that quickly, so I freeze them. You can't spread butter on a frozen bagel, so pop the halves in the oven at 350° for a minute and a half. You could also use a microwave, but I don't have one, so I couldn't tell you how long to put it in for.

Step 3: Spreading and toasting

Picture of Spreading and toasting
Grab your butter or margarine or whatever, and put an even-ish coat on both halves. Put them in the oven at 350° again, but this time for ~3 and a half minutes. Take your bagels out using a spatula, or do(n't) do like I did and grab them with your bare hands. Careful- they're hot!
Tasty.. It's awesome.. Simple but can satisfy you to the fullest..
I have been doing a similar version of this for years...

Bagel ... toasted
Cream Cheese
Romain Lettuce (optional)

It sounds weird but it is delicious!!!!

This looks delicious!

Though personally I just saw my bagel in half, and then clap the two halves together over the sink to get rid of excess bagel shavings. Next I pull out my meat of choice (lately it has been peppered turkey) and then put it on the bottom half, followed by my cheese which i like to grate on the spot. Next I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to melt the cheese followed by a session in the oven set to "broil" on "HI", I do this until it starts to look brown. This is where I pull the pan out and toss the bagel onto my plate, or directly into my mouth, depending on how hungry I am.

Personally, I like to leave the bagel bits on, because they get crispy in the oven. Of course, I don't have a microwave, either. Your way sounds really tasty too!
