Introduction: Bake Your Own Apple Pie

An easy, step-by-step, recipe to make the perfect apple pie! This delicious apple pie will become your new favorite go-to pie recipe for every occasion!

I began making pies when I was very young. Over the years I began to try my own ideas as to what would go on the apples to make the most delicious pie. I can tell you, 2 cups of sugar is not such a great idea as it makes for one big mess but it did taste quite yummy! Over the years I have perfected my version of an apple pie and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Step 1: Ingredients & Tools Needed

Ingredients:

8 medium Macintosh Apples

3/4 cup dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

store bought or home made pie dough (bottom crust and top crust)

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 tablespoon butter

Tools:

cutting board

vegetable or apple peeler (to peel apples)

knife (to cut and slice apples)

measuring spoons

large mixing bowl

wooden spoon (to mix ingredients with apples)

rolling pin

pie plate

pie crust cover

fork

pastry brush

small glass

Step 2: Assembly

Filling:

Peel & slice all apple and put in large bowl.

Add ingredients: Brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg.

Mix the apples and ingredients together until the apples are completely coated.

Crust:

Use rolling pin to roll out the crust.

Lay the bottom crust on the inside of the pie plate.

Fill the bottom crust with the apple mixture.

Lay the top crust over the apples.

Seal the top and bottom crust by using a fork along the edge of the pie plate.

Cut off the excess crust from around the edge of the pie plate.

Cut a small whole with the tip of the knife to make a star in the middle of the pie. Insert a small piece of butter under each cut.

Mix milk and sugar together in the small glass.

Using a pastry brush, brush the milk and sugar mixture over the pie.

Step 3: Baking

Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Bake pie for 1 hour 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

For the first 40 minutes, bake with a pie crust cover on.

Note: A pie crust cover can be made by folding pieces of tinfoil and putting them around the edge of the pie.

For the remaining 35 minutes, bake uncovered.

A golden brown crust will be what you want to see when it is time to remove the pie from the oven.

A big glass of milk and a scoop of vanilla ice cream will be the perfect companions to this delicious pie, and I guarantee you will be back for seconds, and maybe thirds!!

Enjoy!
