Introduction: Ballista Project 2017

I've wanted to make a ballista for a long time but I couldn't find the instructions online so I ended up deciding that I should make one just from a picture, Then I thought that I could make instructions so other people could follow my instructions and make their own ballista.

Step 1: Tools and Material Needed

Tools Needed:

Tape measure

jig saw

Miter saw

Drill

Hammer

Sander

Material Needed:

Plywood

2 x 4

Rope

1.5 inch thick wood

1.5 x 3 inch wood

and a ARROW!

Step 2: Making the Bottom

Then sand it.

Step 3: Making the Top

Picture of Making the Top

Measure a piece of wood 28 x 11 then put a roll of tape on the wood the middle should be at 24 inches from the end of the wood (as shown in photo). Put a straight stick next to the tape and draw a line by it.

Then cut the piece out.

Then sand it.

It should turn out like the photo.

Step 4: Making the Sides

Picture of Making the Sides

Cut out four 14 x 7 x 1.5 inch wood.

Set two aside. Take the two pieces you did not set aside, Measure halfway on one side of both pieces wood. Then make a half circle the middle of the circle should line up with the middle of the wood (as shown in photo).

Then sand all the pieces.

Step 5: Making the Arms

Then sand them.

Step 6: Making the Middle

Cut a piece of wood 49 x 3 x 1.5 inch.

The use a router to carve out the middle.

Then sand it.

Step 7: Screwing the Sides to the Top and Bottom

Screw the sides to the top and Bottom. The first piece of wood should be 1 inch away from the end of the Top and Bottom. The second should be 8.5 inches away form the end. Then the same on the other side.

Step 8: Rope!

Picture of Rope!

Cut holes in the top and bottom piece of wood. Then loop rope around two pieces of wood as many times as you can then tie the ends to the other rope.

Step 9: Making the Rope Into Springs

Picture of Making the Rope Into Springs

Stick the 24 x 4 x 2 inch wood into the rope. Then use a hammer to twist the wood that the rope is raped on. Then go to the other side of the rope and do the same. the tighter the better.

Step 10: Screwing the Middle Piece on to the Bottom

Cut the Three pieces of wood to fit in the middle hole. Then screw the three pieces of wood into the bottom one at a time, then screw the middle piece on to the third piece of wood. Putting the three pieces of wood there will make the middle piece be at the level of the arms.

Step 11: Tying Rope to the Ends of the Arms

Drill a hole in the ends of the arms to make room for the rope, Then tie a knot at the end of the arms with the rope.

The rope should be tight.
