I finally got around to doing this little project to mod the bandsaw I bought about 2 years ago.
The cover is held shut by 2 M6 set screws with hex heads and is a right pain in the ass when you need to change the blade or open the cover to clean the inside and you just cant lay your hand on the right spanner.
I used longer M6 set screws (100mm M6 roofing bolts) and turned some hard wood nobs for them so they can be tightened by hand.
As a bonus the new knobs are useful for winding the power cord around when the bandsaw is not in use.

Another bonus: you can use the knobs as spinning tops ;)
I have made several spinning tops since I started wood turning. A friend and I had a challenge to see if we could make an all wood spinning top that would spin for at least 2 minutes, I have got one that spins for about 1 minute 30 seconds so far. I'm trying to to do an all wood spinner but i think a 2 minute spinner would need to have a metal point fitted.
