Basic Knex Truck with NEW options by Ghostsniper
This is my knex truck that can be modified in various ways. The basic truck has rear leaf spring suspension (no front suspension because of special parts but it is in the mod part of instructable), fake engine, and strong body. After the truck instructions I will have numerous mods for it from different suspension types to new bumpers. If u have ideas plz submit them and they might be inserted into the instructable. I will add more to this in weeks to come but dont expect one every week.

PLEASE POST YOUR MODS

I have found a way to make a strong u joint that won't brake.
SpeedStrikerXLR says: Sep 26, 2010. 3:45 PM
how?
norton220 says: Jun 30, 2010. 12:49 PM
i added those big yellow gears for wheels and put a motor and a gear reuction box in the back....if i put rubberbands on the wheels they get great traction and can climb over lots. i also kept the rear suspension when i mounted the motor!

I made some cool mods to the truck and thought I would show you. I would be more than happy to post them if you would like me to. The mods include interior which includes seats and a steering wheel, opening doors, front suspension that doesn't use those yellow and black springs (because some people don't have those; like me) and a tail pipe. let me know what you think. :)

Mr. Cowboy says: Jul 10, 2009. 1:26 PM
Oh yeah tried the crew cab short bed, that didnt work. Weak back axle
Mr. Cowboy says: Jul 10, 2009. 1:26 PM
Hate to say this but that thing is weak, takes more pieces than my hauler and i cant strengthen it at all
check my truck out:

I have a mod for you I can get some steering on the front wheels and suspension if you want I could put a working engine on it and I can make it start moving by using a pedal I could put some brakes on and they will be powered by pedal if you want these mods I will send them to you personally so you can check them out for yourself
therandomperson says: Sep 15, 2008. 9:02 AM

gunner1089 says: Mar 10, 2008. 2:57 PM
I made a new joint that doesn't slip like the ball joints. I think this might help in your 4WD. I think you might want to apply some electrical tape to where the orange connectors meet the rods.

it looks good but its kinda bulky (thx though)
gunner1089 says: Mar 11, 2008. 4:19 PM
I just finished making your truck. I got rid of the rear suspension and used the joint in my picture to make a 4WD system that really works. There is no slipping I was able to shorten the joint a little more. I also used the circular pieces with the green rods instead of the gears. I don't have a motor that works anymore but I imagine a motor would add on quite easily.
Mad Cat says: Jul 11, 2008. 6:54 PM
Have you been able to make a four wheel drive with functional steering? Maybe you could use these universals.
Ghostsniper (author) says: Mar 11, 2008. 5:58 PM
yeah the 4wd drive i posted a lot more complicated than the one I usaly create (I'm trying to build a CORR racing Pro 2 truck with your front suspension and a realistic rear suspension)
kanamin says: Jul 5, 2008. 2:04 AM
instead of gunner1089's universals (nothing wrong with them, just saying...), you could modify the ball joint by drilling a tiny hole through the ball and inserting some kind of metal rod; like in dogbone universals. This may be worse than electrical tape though, since it's permanent.

Impressive truck! I recently went to a monster truck show and this looks like one of them. It also reminds me of a Cadillac Escalade.
