Picture of Basics to making good RCT3 parks Part 1
Hi! If you play the game Roller coaster tycoon 3 (RCT3) then this Instructable is definitely worth looking at. This is an Instructable to help you get started on making the parks of your dreams. These tips are good for beginners and pros. There are many ways to make better parks and rides. This is an Instructable to get you started. In this Instructable I will be focusing on making cool but at the same time realistic entrances and roller coasters. These are only some of the basics of what is possible in RCT3. I hope that after you see this Instructable you will be able to make better parks. One little thing I should mention is that this Instructable DOES NOT use custom scenery. It is all in-game scenery. Another thing is that I used scenery from the Soaked and Wild! expansion packs. If you can not find the scenery in your game it might be because you don't have the expansion packs. I'd highly suggest getting them because they further your possibilities.

Let's get started!

Step 1: Scenario Editor and terraforming

Picture of Scenario Editor and terraforming
This step shows you some extras available in the scenario editor option under tools. It will also show you how to alternate the terrain without making it look like a bunch of pointy hills. This is more commonly known as terraforming.

Step 2: Starting your park

OK. The first thing to do is to open the sandbox mode. Everything in this Instructable is done in Sandbox mode. When it's finished loading click on the Entrance which will open the park operations window. Everything will be explained in the image notes. This is just an example of what you could do. Let your imagination think of things to put in your park. I'm going to use flat land for this entrance.

Cool! :-D But, how do you open a sandbox with the park you edited in the scenario editor? I thought you could only do that with custom scenario.

You could just save all the buildings and and coasters and copy them into a scenario editor? I'm not sure if there's a way to transfer it but you could use the other tips. Scenario editor is for people who want to change the entrance and change the sign and make objectives and all that. You could use the other steps for tips on Splash country.
I already knew all of this stuff, lol. But the part on changing the size of park land is useful, since I had some trouble finding a tutorial on the web when I first began.

YEAH! PArt two might deal with custom scenery.
And don't forget water and waterfalls.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Of course. That's weird. I can comment on my other computer.
You're my 3100th commenter!
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
YAY! 3000 and 3100. :-D
Add a picture to Step 5, steps without pictures drive me crazy. :-P
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Sorry. I'll get a pic when I finish part of my current park.
You could just add a picture you already have in your library.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
I think I'll wait. ;-)
Also, shouldn't this be in computer games instead of video games?
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Computer GAMES! ;-)
Yeah, change the category to that. It's in video games right now.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
I think it's fine in video games. Besides more people look in the video gamessection so more people would see this.
Even though it is a computer game. Also, the best tutorial you could make is how to create custom scenery. One reason I hate custom scenery is because some is cheap and unrealistic.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
I don't know how to create custom scenery. UNREALISTIC?! The whole point of CS is that it makes it more realistic. You just have to find the right sets. I'll cover CS, CTR's and CFR's in the next part.
Most of the custom scenery people make is unrealistic.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Give me one example.
Go to the website place. I forgot where it was.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Which one! There are hundreds.
Vodhin's pages.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
You mean the googie kit? That's a future set
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
What set are you talking about
I'm not talking about a specific set.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Just custom scenery in general.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
The whole point of custom scenery is to make parks more realistic. A lot of sets mght be futuristic.
Futuristic should still be detailed.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
You should see Weber's Sci-fi 3.
I'm too lazy to look for it. :-P
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Because I'm nice... Link
Look at some of the pics at the bottom of teh third page...
Ha, thanks for the link. That's some good scenery.
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Told you... :-)
Have you got any of Shy guys sets.
Yes, I have the planters and rocks. Also, you replied 5 minutes ago, so you must be online right now. Yay!
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
Unfortunately no. I wasn't on... That was right before the bell. :-(
I'd suggest getting his alpine, water world, catfish cove, circus centre and Main street if you want to. Gre at for buildings of every kind. Plus no object collision.
I'm fine with the custom scenery I have now. :-)
Tornado96 (author)  Shadowman394 years ago
I probably have about 50 sets and a bunch of CTR's and CFR's
